Audi TT 2.0TFSI quattro review
"Is there really any point in paying the extra for the quattro system?"
What is it?
The all-wheel drive version of our favourite TT – the 200hp turbo petrol. It costs 29,095 which means it’s £2,850 more than the front-wheel drive model. However, it does come with Audi’s excellent S tronic paddle shift gearbox as standard.
What’s it like on the outside
Like the normal 2.0-litre model, which means it’s one of the sweetest
looking cars on the road. The only noticeable difference is a small quattro badge on the rear.
What’s it like on the inside
Once again it’s like a TT, which means a stylish well-built cabin. However, all cars have paddle shifters on their steering wheels as S tronic is standard on the Quattro model.
What’s it like to drive?
Well, the extra traction means the quattro is slightly faster to 60mph. Also the extra grip proved useful when driving in the recent snowy whether. However, other than this there is really little difference to the
front-wheel drive car, as the quattro system only sends power to the rear when there is a loss of traction rather than providing permanent all-wheel drive.
Verdict
Really, unless you regularly engage in away-from-the lights drag races or live in the Artic there is very little point paying the extra £2,850 for the quattro. And while it may come with the excellent S tronic gearbox as standard, if you like the system you can have it fitted to the normal 2.0 TFSI for £1,450.
