SEAT shows off the IBZ Sport Tourer concept

The SEAT IBZ Concept has just gone on show in Frankfurt. Squint a bit and you've got next year's SEAT Ibiza Sport Tourer.
This is SEAT's IBZ concept. And if you tone down a few of the slightly more lavish details, this is pretty much exactly what you'll get when the Ibiza Sport Tourer hits showrooms in summer 2010.

The Ibiza Sport Tourer is exactly the same length, width and height as the Ibiza hatch, but the larger rear doors and more extravagantly curved rear end liberate just enough extra space to make the ST a decent buy for a small family - the hatch boasts 292 litres, while the ST swallows 410 litres.
Expect the Ibiza ST to share the hatchback's lineup of engines and transmissions too.
Next year is the SEAT Ibiza's 25th anniversary, so while we're a bit disappointed that the brand has decided to celebrate with a practical, sensible and logical extension to the Ibiza range, we can understand SEAT's desire to grow its line-up quickly and cheaply, just like big brother brand Audi has done so successfully.
