New Hyundai i30 spec revealed

The Hyundai i30 is to receive a mid-life refresh, including a 183bhp Turbo model

Hyundai has released details of the new i30, which will go on sale on 26 February. The model – which has been a strong challenger to better-known brands since its introduction – is now even more competitive and should continue to attract UK buyers with its low starting price of £15,195.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai Motor UK's president and CEO, said: "The current i30 has been a huge hit for us in the UK and the new i30 is set to build on that success thanks to its updated design and unbeatable levels of standard equipment."

The i30 S is the entry-level version. Replacing the Classic model, the S will come with keyless entry, USB and MP3 player ports, Bluetooth phone connectivity and air-conditioning as standard.

SE trim comes with 16-inch alloys, cruise control, parking sensors and interior improvements. This adds around £1,300 to the price, but is likely to be one of the most popular models.

Premium spec comes with advanced headlights, 17-inch wheels and dual-zone climate control. Its leather seats are heated (as is the steering wheel) and buyers will be able to start their new car at the press of a button.

Buyers of the Hyundai i30 will also have a choice of five engines. These range in power from 98 to 184bhp and are designed with both performance and fuel economy in mind.

There are two 1.6-litre diesel engines on offer, with 109 and 134bhp. Three petrols are also available, starting with a 1.4 and a 1.6-litre providing 98 and 118bhp respectively. The sportiest engine is the 1.6-litre 184bhp T-GDI turbo, which gives the i30 a 0-62mph time of eight seconds.

The Turbo model will come with 18-inch alloy wheels, a sporty bodykit and several other visual tweaks. This version can be ordered with either three or five doors, while all other engines come in either the five-door hatchback or Tourer estate bodies.
