Ford's MPV range gets a refresh; price list and specifications revealed

The full list of prices and specifications for the updated Ford C-MAX, Grand C-MAX and S-MAX MPVs have been announced.

New pricing for the C-MAX starts at £18,195, while the seven-seat Grand C-MAX is priced from £20,295. The medium-sized MPVs benefit from Ford's latest in-car technology advancements, including the brand's SYNC 2 voice-activated infotainment system.

Ford’s hands-free Perpendicular Parking system (first seen on the Focus hatchback) will be introduced to the range. It helps you to get parked by detecting a space big enough for the car and applying the correct steering inputs – you just need to work the pedals. Elsewhere, there’s a new adaptive LED headlight system with seven different settings to suit the weather and the level of daylight to give you the best illumination possible.

Also available is an improved version of Ford’s Active City Stop technology, which applies the brakes automatically at low speeds to avoid collisions when driving around town. The system is programmed to operate at up to 30mph and is just one of many features Ford is introducing to increase safety.

The Grand C-MAX still sports sliding doors for better accessibility, while the 'walk-through' seating arrangement remains inside, too. For added ease-of-use, the Hands-Free Tailgate system seen on the Kuga SUV is also available.

The C-MAX and Grand C-MAX also benefit from a new engine: a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 118bhp, but maintains a low CO2 emissions figure of 105g/km. That’s a 12% reduction in CO2 compared to the older, less powerful 1.6-litre diesel used in the past. This new diesel is available alongside Ford’s efficient 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engines, which produce either 98 or 123bhp while returning 55mpg fuel economy.

All S-MAX models will be available with either a 1.5 or 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, depending on the trim level, and four versions of Ford's 2.0-litre Duratorq diesel engine, producing 118, 148, 177 or 207bhp. There's also a choice of either a six-speed manual or PowerShift automatic gearbox.

The revised S-MAX model will be equipped with the SYNC 2 system, irrespective of trim level. Also included across the range are keyless start, front and rear parking sensors, sports seats and DAB digital radio. An entry-level 1.5-litre EcoBoost Zetec will cost £24,545.

The Titanium trim level – generally the most popular on Fords – benefits from privacy glass, automatic lights and rain-sensing windscreen wipers. Technology assistance includes traffic-sign recognition, cruise control, LED running lights and lane-keeping assistance. Prices start at £26,245.

The S-MAX Titanium Sport stands out from the crowd with a full bodykit, rear spoiler and sports suspension, starting at £29,945.

Add on an X pack and you'll be treated to the previously mentioned adaptive LED headlights and powered front seats.
