Skoda's S2000 rally car inspired Fabia vRS will beat the new VW Polo GTI to market, will be just as fast and cheaper too
Geneva 2009: Skoda Fabia vRS
Skoda showed a Fabia design study at Geneva, previewing the next vRS model, due within the next 12 months
While SEAT is supposed to be VW's sporty brand, Skoda looks intent of stealing the Spanish make's thunder.
And that's because while SEAT has had to cut its motorsport operations, Skoda has built a corking S2000 rally car, and that machine has inspired the Czech maker to build a new Fabia vRS.
According to chaps on the Skoda stand, the finished vRS will look like a cross between the car shown at Geneva and the rally car, and will be powered by the brilliant 1.4-litre turbo and supercharged VW engine, tweaked to give around 180hp.
The Skoda will beat the simlarly-engined Polo GTI to showrooms by a fair bit too. Sounds like a cracker.
