Kia pro_cee'd GT unveiled
Kia has revealed a performance version of the three-door pro_cee’d - the pro_cee’d GT.
Kia has unveiled a performance version of the three-door pro_cee’d hatchback, called the pro_cee’d GT. The company also revealed there will be a five-door model called the cee’d GT, but hasn’t yet released any pictures of that car.
Both models are powered by a 201bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, which is considerably more than the next most powerful engine in the range, with just 123bhp. It's still a fair way short of models like the 247bhp Ford Focus ST and 276bhp Vauxhall Astra VXR, though. Acceleration from 0-62mph takes 7.9 seconds.
The only transmission available is a six-speed manual gearbox and the GT models get larger brakes featuring bright red calipers.
The pro_cee’d GT gets an aggressive makeover, with the most striking addition being the two clusters of LED lights sitting either side of the front bumper. The grille is now deeper and features a honeycomb mesh and a subtle red pinstripe along the bottom edge.
The interior has been spruced up, too, with supportive Recaro sports seats finished with red stitching. The stitching also continues on to the steering wheel and doors inserts.
The pro_cee’d GT goes on sale in the middle of the year and the five-door cee’d GT will be available towards the end of 2013. No prices have been revealed, but expect a starting figure of less than £22,000.
