Volkswagen up! five-door

By George Chapman | 23rd January 2012

The Volkswagen up! will soon be available in practical five-door form, as these first images show.

The latest addition to the up! range offers buyers an extra pair of doors compared to the three-door model whilst maintaining the same interior and 251-litre luggage space.

Under the bonnet, the five-door will come with a three-cylinder petrol engine, offered in 59bhp or 74bhp guises. Special edition Black and White models will also go on sale.

The five-door up! comes with front and side airbags, ABS with Brake Assist, Isofix child seat preparation and ESP fitted as standard on all but entry-level Take up! models. The up! is also available with optional City Emergency Braking, a system that automatically applies the brakes if it detects a possible front impact.

The Maps & More system is standard on High up! spec models and above, but remains an option on the rest of the range. The system allows users to view navigation, telephone and entertainment information on one removable display.

Five-door up! models are due in the UK later in the year, with prices yet to be confirmed. The three-door Volkswagen up! is available to order now, priced from £7,995, arriving in showrooms in March.
