Alfa Romeo MiTo
The Alfa Romeo MiTo is a stylish, upmarket small car that is a direct competitor to the MINI. The MiTo is cheaper than the MINI, has more rear space and a bigger boot, but isn’t as good to drive. The range comprises six engines and five trims, and stretches from very economical diesel models to the high-performance Cloverleaf version. The MiTo is only available as a three-door hatchback.
- pros:
- Sporty, stylish image
- Lots of space for a small car
- Broad, economical engine range
- cons:
- Lower level cabin plastics below par
- Uncomfortable ride
- Options list is expensive
The Alfa Romeo MiTo is only available with three doors, so it's less practical than a five-door, but that's unlikely to worry target buyers, who value style over practicality. That said, there's still enough room for two adults in the back and a reasonable boot - unlike the MINI. Every version has a clever DNA switch in the cabin that either makes the car more comfortable or more fun to drive. However, the MiTo still can’t match the MINI for driving fun or the Audi A1's build quality.
