Alpina
German firm Alpina has been tuning BMWs for over 40 years. The firm became a car manufacturer in its own right in 1983, and it takes standard BMW models and makes major revisions, focusing on giving them more power, luxury and performance.
Alpina D3
The Alpina D3 Biturbo is based on the BMW 3 Series, and is available as a saloon, Touring estate or two-door coupe. What makes the D3 unique is the fact that Alpina adds the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel from the BMW 123d to the larger 3 Series – an engine that's not offered with the standard BMW 3 Series. Alpina tunes the engine to produce 211bhp, and many enthusiasts believe the firm has created one of the world's best diesel sports cars in the process. There’s a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes, with fuel-saving stop-start available on manual models. As well as uprating engines, Alpina adds revised suspension which offers both a more comfortable ride and better handling, while Alpina branded alloy wheels and a subtle bodykit are enough to show those in the know that these cars are something special.
Alpina B3
The Alpina B3 S Biturbo is based on the BMW 3 Series, and is available in Coupe, Convertible, saloon or Touring estate body styles. Power comes from a 3.0-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that develops 395bhp and is capable of powering the car at speeds of up to 186mph. The B3 S is only available with an automatic gearbox, while uprated suspension offers a blend of sporty handling and comfort on long journeys. Alpina’s trademark 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels give the car a more distinctive look, and the interior is retrimmed in high-quality leather.
Alpina B5
Based on the latest BMW 5 Series, the Alpina B5 BITURBO uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 producing in excess of 500bhp. Available in saloon or Touring estate guise all variants come fitted with an 8 speed automatic transmission and opulent leather interior. The Alpina B5 is designed to be a luxury mile-eater with supercar levels of performance.
Alpina B6
Based on the stylish BMW 6 Series, the Alpina B6 BITURBO uses a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 producing in excess of 500bhp. It's available in Coupe or Convertible guise and all variants come fitted with an 8 speed automatic transmission and opulent leather interior. The Alpina B6 offers comfort and performance in abundance.
Alpina B7
The B7 BITURBO sits at the top of the Alpina range. The B7 is based on the latest 7 Series, and power is provided by the new 4.4-litre V8 engine which has been tuned to deliver 500bhp, which gives excellent performance. The B7 features a new bodykit, a choice of 20 or 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and lowered suspension. Almost all the equipment you could think of comes as standard, and the interior is retrimmed by hand in high quality leather, while Alpina also adds sports seats and a sports steering wheel.
