Aged 57 and my first Audi and so far delighted with it. I work as a driver/valeter for a major car body shop and get to drive a massive amount of vehicles and this played a major part in making me choose this vehicle after being SO disappointed driving other allegedly excellent makes. Deceptively quick in real world use, sure footed and nimble for its size, plus excellent build quality and finish. What’s not to like? P.S. be savvy and use a good honest independent Audi garage to keep running costs down.

Had this Q3 for 2 months, and I've started to look for something else as it' not growing on me. Pros...good quality overall, handles nicely, engine is powerful enough with good gearing giving ample acceleration at lower speeds, runs out of puff on 70mph overtakes though, good visibility and it's handsome vehicle especially in blue. Cons....the DSG auto gearbox can be slow to react with a pause before drive is engaged, makes pulling out of busy junctions interesting, we find the seats to be too wide so slide side to side, and this is the S line with sports seats, so I need to eat more pies. The amount of standard equipment on an Audi is pathetic, try and find a well spec'd car. The biggest surprise is the fuel consumption, or rather lack of it, 32/34 in general day to day driving, this is supposed to be a frugal engine, it's not.

Faults with door locks, faults with brakes, faults with steering, stop/start faults, more time at dealership then been able to drive. Fobbed off by dealership, AA and other independent check paid for privately came to same result, hence dealership with not accept this report, still being fobbed off now. Last chance or they change replace the whole thing as promised at point of sale, also paid for extended warranty. Still getting fobbed off, check out the dealership first.

I've been very pleased with my Q3 40 TFSI Quattro, having been able to long-term test drive both the Q3 35 TFSI and Q3 45 TFSIe, I knew that I need a bit more performance than the 35 TFSI but that the TFSIe did not fit my lifestyle. The 40 TFSI I ended up with does everything I want it to do, the automatic gearbox is extremely responsive (may as well be a different car to the 35 TFSI) and can deliver a decent amount of pace but is more than happy to sit at 20 mph when needed. I also have the full 360 degree cameras, adaptive cruise control and matrix headlights. They make a real difference to my use and enjoyment of the car. The adaptive cruise control is particularly effective in town with low 20mph speed limits as it can just follow the car in front all the way down to a complete stop. meaning you can focus on the hazards around you instead. Interior space is excellent, if you don't often carry passengers you can leave the rear bench moved forward for a massive boot, and if you do carry passengers the large amount of headroom is a godsend. Overall, coming from an Audi A4, the Q3 is similarly sized but with much more practicality. One minus point on the 40 TFSI is fuel economy though. On the motorway 35-37 mpg is achievable but around town mid-20s is good going...
What's the one thing you like most about your car?
The technology on the Q3 is fantastic, from the large infotainment screen and virtual cockpit you have all the information you want in view all the time. Equally having access to higher levels of tech such as the higher end cars Audi offers allows you to spec a car to rival luxury saloons of only a few years ago in a compact SUV.
If you could improve one thing, what would it be?
A slightly softer suspension would be nice, even the standard one is a bit firm.

Poor poor car. Littered with software issues, stop/start never works properly and the airbag light came on and could not be fixed for two months, then the electric tailgate failed and again there was a two-month wait to get it in. Now the washer pump has failed. Thank god its lease is up in eight weeks. Overrated car and brand. Customer service diabolical.
What's the one thing you like most about your car?
MPG is excellent in town or on motorway thanks to the engines cylinder on demand function
If you could improve one thing, what would it be?
Stronger build quality

Voice recognition system not working. New wiring loom fitted and control box reset on 4 different occasions to no avail. Since repairs on voice recognition system dash fan has developed annoying hum. Also drivers electric window failed, went up put then dropped 2/3rds of way down. Had to close in increments and switch of ignition when at the top to make it stay closed. Repairs still ongoing for all 3 faults.

A car that's very poor on fuel and not that great in bad weather, even though it’s all-wheel drive. Nice to drive overall just a little bumpy suspension. Some of the tech is not great: no touch screen, no aux port, no cup holders in the rear, sat nav is complicated to use, the heaters you have to do each side manually which is time consuming. Non-automatic wing mirrors. No heated seats. Non-electric seat adjustment. This is supposed to be one of the best models. However, the car lacks many features you would expect from a top model. If you have high disposable income to spend on fuel go for it, as it was definitely oversold in the shop for mpg! One positive, it’s easy to park and the seats are nice.

This is the third Audi I have owned and I'm disappointed by my Q3. Its fuel consumption is terrible and now the drivers seat base has (according to my dealer) twisted so they have to replace the whole driver's seat. There's a three week wait for the new seat to be delivered; Audi has refused to let me keep the loan A6 they gave me, so I have to use my car with a broken seat for three weeks.
