I bought this car in April 2016, it is now August and I am looking to change it. Has all the buttons and whistles, very comfortable and great to tow (you don't notice you have two full size horses behind you at all!). However the fuel and oil consumption is crippling. In the 5k miles I have driven I have added 4Litres of oil to the engine. On a long run (which I do many of) with no weight in the car I am lucky to achieve 30mpg. Around town it's varied widely between 17 and 25mpg.

On our second Q5, found tyre wear on the first very bad, changed the model to harder and found it much better if slightly more noise. The new one is fantastic, have found a big difference in the handling and ride. 15 months old and not been near the dealers or tyre shops. Engine pick up and gearbox is very smooth. Panoramic roof make an annoying squeak when shut.

My q5 is just fantastic .It Oozes quality ,easy to drive while at the same time is so practical. I only wish audi could chnage the ride quality on all its cars.It Is just that litle bit hard at times but i have got used to it now. I love this car which is very economical for a car its size.

I bought this car from new and thought I was buying a 'prestige' car as Audi have a great name. As I drove it out of garage I thought this is great I had never had a car like this, so luxurious. Little did I know. I bought it April 2011 and by August 2011 oil light had come on and had to be topped up. I thought nothing of this until I noticed that oil level was dropping very fast. I called dealer to be told this is 'normal' and Audi say that litre of oil for every thousand or so miles was within normal range, my reply was that not even an old banger goes through that amount of oil. This problem continued and I took it back to dealer and they did an oil consumption test which concluded that there was a problem with conrods and pistons which basically meant my engine had to be rebuilt, this was done under warranty but still not good for a brand new car. Around November 2011 my car started cutting out while I was driving it Audi assist had to be called this time there was a problem with the fuel line, back to Audi for repair again. The oil problem continues and my car is back at Audi as I type this for oil consumption test AGAIN. I'm hoping they get to the bottom of this problem as it has had this oil consumption test done at least 3 times.

Was looking at X3,evoque & Q5 and the Q5 won, Awesome car, feels solid, drives well and very pleased,Lots of space in rear & boot, good base models spec, we went for s line plus with the options at extra expense if anything else is required, panoramic roof is lush and beautiful when open so much light into the cabin :-)

Great engine mixing practicality, efficiency and fun when you want it. Only alternative would have been a BMW and their dealers were shocking, plus the car they took me out in had trim falling off it (£50k car - I don't think so!). Anyway I bought this and have fallen for the engine - it's great (even better than the test drive). 40mpg on long drives yet quicker than my old Porsche to 60. Looks are a bit yesterday - guess design is 10yrs old. Equally people under estimate its power because it is quite ordinary to look at, which can be fun. Ride is good with out being exceptional. It's practical without being huge. At the price nothing else made sense. Porsche too expensive with options, Land Rover are terribly badly built and the engines are boring, BMW dodgy looks, image, dealers (I wasn't impressed and went to 3 franchises - lazy sales people), not convinced about quality.

Very pleased, covered 20000 miles with no issues. Styling, toys and refinement are everything i require in a car. The car was a demonstrator with only 2000 miles on the clock and some options i would not have chose. I will be replacing in mar 12 for a new q5, unless something new tempts me; the new bmw x3 looks technically tasty, but less keen on the looks.
