Audi TT coupe - MPG, running costs & CO2

There's no longer a diesel Audi TT, and the petrol variants get between 30-40mpg

The Audi TT costs more than rivals from less premium brands, like the Toyota GR86, but you do get a more upmarket interior and it tends to be more economical than rivals. All models should hold their value well, as the Audi badge continues to be sought-after on the used market. With no direct replacement in sight, we’d expect the values of late examples to depreciate slowly.

Audi TT MPG & CO2

There isn't currently a diesel in the TT range, which might knock its popularity with long-distance drivers, but for a sports coupe its petrol engines are quite efficient. The TT has never been available with any form of electrification.

The efficiency of its petrol engines is partly thanks to Audi's clever Economy Drive Select system, which allows you to tweak various settings from behind the wheel and optimises the engine and gearbox for maximum fuel economy. What's more, thanks to the S tronic automatic gearbox, the TT can automatically 'coast' in neutral to save fuel as soon as you lift your foot off the accelerator at higher speeds.

The entry-level 40 TFSI petrol engine manages up to 41.5mpg, with CO2 emissions from 154g/km. This is the model we’d recommend if you mainly make shorter trips.

The other two 2.0-litre TFSI petrol variants are the 242bhp 45 TFSI and the high-performance TTS model. Now only offered with quattro four-wheel drive, the 45 TFSI can manage 36.7mpg and from 174g/km. This places it in the highest Benefit-in-kind (BiK) bands for company-car drivers. The TTS manages a figure of up to 34mpg, but you can expect this figure to be very tricky to achieve in real-world conditions, unless you're on a long motorway cruise.

All Audi TT models will attract the standard annual VED (road tax) after the first year’s CO2-weighted payment, which is usually included in the on-the-road price. Those with a list price (including options) of more than £40,000 are liable for an additional surcharge in years two to six of ownership.

Insurance

The 40 TFSI 2.0-litre petrol TT starts from insurance group 36, while the 45 TFSI 2.0-litre petrol quattro model is in group 40.

Warranty

Audi offers a three-year/60,000-mile warranty on the TT. The Porsche 718 Cayman and BMW 2 Series offer slightly better three-year/unlimited-mileage warranties, so bear this in mind if you’re a high-mileage driver.

Servicing

As with all other Audis, the TT benefits from fixed-price servicing deals called Audi Complete, which can include servicing, servicing and maintenance, and even replacement tyres depending on which one you choose
