An excellent all round package that uses good materials, the latest technology (safety, emissions, driver aids) to provide a consistently enjoyable and affordable driving experience for a vehicle of its size and weight provided that you are empty nesters principally using the car to transport two persons rather than a full family and all that goes with that.

Stunning piece of kit. Same basic engine as my x5 but with 100bhp more, two more gears, lower emissions, better economy and it's 20mph faster!! Just shows how technology has changed in 6 years.

It is a brilliant car for over taking people especially with the 35i engine, although i found out that it was a 3 liter not a 3.5 liter engine. Fuel economy isn't great because of that engine. The car had a problem because i was driving on the motorway a suddenly the car just went into neutral and the air conditioning system went off, the dealer told me there was a problem with the air con and they could have it fixed for me.

The x6 is a great drivers 4x4. I enjoy driving and the x6 delivers a very good drive - good performance, excellent handling for such a big and heavy vehicle and a very comfortable and pleasurable experience and i really like the looks too.

I have owned some great cars in my time, most notably a mini cooper s jcw gp edition but i have to say that my x6 is irrefutably the greatest car i have ever driven or been driven in.

I bought this car when it was a year old with 15k miles on the clock. I sold it 4 years later with 95k miles. It was a superb car with no problems at all. At about 90k miles the turbocharger started to sweat but nothing major. I have done 80k miles on UK and European motorways and towns, the car never let me down. It's superb to drive at high speeds and feels like it's stuck to the road. Over 80k miles it needed brake disks changed twice and pads changed 4 times, tyres changed 2 times, a gearbox service and three annual engine services. It's not the quietest and ride is little bit firm but it definitely great looking car.

A perfection at 10th year. I bought my pre-owned 2008 BMW X6 xDrive 35i back in March 2014 with an 80k mile odometer reading. For the past 4 years of ownership this crossover had not given me any major headache like what other people say (whom i think don’t own one). I use it almost everyday, to go to work and to run all the errands that require transportation. Since I bought it, i pamper it like a little child, i regularly schedule it for maintenance, i change oil every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first. I bring it to an auto detailing shop at least every month or two, its metallic red paint shines like a new car, you wouldn’t find any vehicle out there as fresh and good looking as mine inside and out at the same age, it is well maintained and garage kept. Now it clocks at 105k miles and still runs great. I have no regrets on choosing it over a Porsche Cayenne, X6 captures the eyes of whoever sees it down the road until now (March 2018). It is a certified headturner. A timeless beauty. It is even more good looking than its 2nd generation, with the blazing white angel eyes. Well, i’m planning on keeping it for more years, i’m still not fed up yet, everyday is like a new day.

Fabulous vehicle - not cheap to run, especially on tyres - I've just replaced the front run flats with little change from £500. Fuel economy isn't great, but if you are looking for a car that is economical then don't buy one of these! If you are looking for a cracking piece of kit and to hell with being sensible- then I doubt there are many better and more fun big cars for your money. I just love driving it, and the owner of the fuel station loves me too!!!

Engine problems from year 1, fixed then with software update. A few years on, engine misfires and after 3 visits, coils, sparks, fuel pump etc. and several days without the car, the problem is just getting worse and the diagnostic just keeps finding the same errors. Scary, because forums are abundant with owners of other BMW models with the same engine having the same issue never resolved.

Best car I've ever owned. Amazing engine, incredibly comfortable, and all the gadgets you could wish for. I get the impression it's a marmite car. People either love it or hate it. All I can say to all the haters is get in it and drive; you will soon change your mind.

Quality car, comfortable with good handling. Ride is harsh due to the installation of run flat tyres. Good service intervals and we have not had any mechanical faults so far after 25k.

I was reluctant to buy this 2012 used car with 44,000kms on it at first based on comments on the forums but I have owned it for two and a half years (it has 55,000kms on it now) and am pretty impressed by the reliability of it and somewhat reasonable service costs. It's still a great unique looking car with plenty of options for the base model. The gas mileage is pretty good considering the weight and power this car has. I actually like this style better than the second generation as it has better lines and sharper features. The only issue I had with this car was the oil cooler leaked a bit and they put in a new gasket . I would definitely recommend this car to anybody getting one.

The BMW Security Issue has been the biggest scare, but I also suffered an as yet undiagnosed instrument cluster failure

Only the paintwork niggles on the car. No other problems at all. The quality of paintwork is not good at all compared with previous bmw's i've owned (3)
