Pros

  • Very fast
  • Good levels of interior space
  • Excellent handling

Cons

  • Firm ride
  • Long waiting list

Ferrari's 599 has it all, looks, pace, handling plenty of space, it is seriously refined, too. On the move the 6.0-litre V12 sounds simply incredible too, but be prepared to pay for it. At over £210,000 for the entry level GTB, the 599 can get extremely expensive after you start adding on extras and once you've ordered it delivery won't be for a few years, due to the huge waiting list currently in place. One of the best GT cars Ferrari has ever made, the 599 is destined to be a future classic, nd well worth the money if you can afford it.

The 599 has now effectively been replaced by the Ferrari F12. You can read our full review here.

MPG, running costs & CO2

Like most supercars on the road, the Ferrari is unbelievably expensive to run

Like most supercars on the road, the Ferrari is unbelievably expensive to run. Insurance is as expensive as it gets, parts cost as much as a lot of other cars simply to replace and it drinks petrol quicker than almost any other car on the road.

Engines, drive & performance

Undoubtably one of the best drivers cars currently on sale

Powered by a 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine, the 599 is one of the fastest supercars on the road. Offering unbelievable acceleration the whole way through the rev range, it also features Formula One levels of technology to keep it stuck to the road. Steering is precise and the few cars have more balance and poise through the corners. Undoubtably one of the best drivers cars currently on sale.

Interior & comfort

Despite its firm suspension, the 599 is very smooth on the road

Despite its firm suspension, the 599 is smooth on the road and is surprisingly comfortable to drive for such a powerful supercar. Cabin noise is minimal even with the engine roaring at 8,000rpm and wind noise is rarely an issue either.

Practicality & boot space

A strict two-seater, the 599 is surprisngly spacious for a Ferrari supercar

A strict two-seater, the 599 is surprisingly spacious for a Ferrari supercar. Head and legroom are both very generous and the boot is big enough that you can store your shopping and luggage in it fairly easily. There is even a very practical rear parcel shelf for storing your bags, coats and whatever else you might be carrying.

Reliability & safety

Made from the very best materials, the build quality of the 599 is just about as good as it gets

Made from the very best materials, the build quality of the 599 is just about as good as it gets. As a result it is extremely durable and is equally reliable.

Price, value for money & options

Very expensive, but equally desireable

Costing over £200,000 for the entry-level 599, the price is usually a lot more than that after you have finished adding all of the extras. There is a long waiting list too, so do not expect to take delivery for anytime soon. That said Ferrari's do hold their value reasonably well and for the all of that money you do get one of the most desireable supercars on the road.
