This is only my 2nd car and love it. Not had any problems with it so far, it starts up straight away and drives ok. Only one complaint is that it's a little sluggish in 2nd gear after cornering. It's far better than the VW Polo I had which was forever in the garage with faults. I'm glad I didn't listen to all the negative reviews and decided go buy it. My advice is to go for it buy a Grande Punto you might think it's great like I do

For what it is, i am pleased with it. It has done a high mileage much of it on the m25 in terrible traffic conditions and has so far not let me down. Having light blue seat covers is annoying as they show the dirt, but that is really my only complaint

The electrical wires for the internal fan were faulty and kept causing problems for weeks. this shows the overall build quality of the car with wires that are too short and being strecthed to sockets and plugs that are not covered properly. The interior is also poorly built with vent covers not fitting properly and buttons not working properly. The steering is also very light especially when driving at high speeds on the motorway. The backseats are also problematic to fold down. However it is a hard working little car with a very responsive engine and brakes. The economy has also been fairly good with an average of 45mpg in the 1.2 petrol engine. Overall i feel that fiat has improved on the build quality for the number of miles this car has done and the price paid originally. However more could be done to improve

Not a bad car by any means, however, in the third year of ownership it suffered from a range of problems: clutch release bearing, wiper motor was replaced; front strut mountings replaced. The reason i got shot of the car was that it developed a persistent pull to the left that the main dealer was unable to rectify. Everything under the sun was tried and nothing seemed to work. Just made the car a absolute pain to drive anywhere.

My car is just the sexiest beastly piece of machinery to ever come out of the fiat factory's doors. Overall, the consumption would be amazing, if it was a 5.0 litre twin turbo, but it's not. Averaging 29mpg is a struggle for the revvy little car, and quite frankly, going to your car in the morning to a damp interior, frost behind the dials and a slippery dash really puts you in the mood for a productive day of work. There is however, one thing fiat have really done right on the grande punto. It's so bad that it makes you to never want to buy a fiat again, and thus, succeed in life. The 6th gear is too, truly amazing, not, i'm pretty sure the've just accidently named neutral '6th' as the power you receive from it is about as much power you get from a legless horse. I would like to at this point, congratulate myself on the exquisite, and frankly, slightly arousing 'exotica red' color, however, the paint quality is so bad, that i'm pretty sure fiat deliberately invested millions into scientific research on how to infect car paint with alopecia. Daily i notice a change in the shade, thickness, and overall appearance of it's shine. I however, have personally found a cure for this, in the form of factor 50 sun cream. In Conclusion to this we see, that if you want a magical colored car, with terrible consumption and obese performance then the fiat grande punto sporting 1.4 16v is the car for you ! Yours sincerely, a loyal, devoted, proud fiat owner..... jokes. Yours sincerely, an 18 year old stinky student with way too much time on his hands and dream of a £3,000 cash injection into his rapidly declining finances :-)

Reliable, stylish, good ride for 'sporting', vague steering feel, fantastic overtaking grunt, 36mph/1000rpm 6th gear for wonderfully relaxed motorway cruising, solid safe feel with 6 airbags, abs, esp etc. Great value, economical to run, awkward front and rear 3/4 vision at times,

Handy small car with plenty of space, and comfortable for long journeys too. The small engine has to work a little too hard to give the best fuel economy. My Daughter likes driving it, and praises it for being a bit different from, and more stylish than, typical youngsters' cars - ka, c1/2, corsa, fiesta etc.

Great basic little car which has proven fun to drive, and reliable in delivering all that has been demanded of it. As a short range commuting workhorse it's absolutely fine; however it's shortcomings are apparent on longer journeys where it's lack of capacity and general wheeziness tend to let it down. Also, for a car with such a small capacity engine, fuel economy is certainly not on a par with competitors.

Not a bad car however after coming from a 1999 Fiesta Ghia it left a lot to be desired interms of maintenance. In the two years I owned it I had to replace several blown front headlamps and rear break lights ( full new high level cluster also replaced ), had problems with thing in the boot would cause the number plate lights to pull an error on the bash if placed incorrectly. Also had to replace the rear suspension bushings after a year after having new ones fitted that broke up and caused a horrific knocking noise along with both front anti role bars that had just worn out over the years of driving from the previous owner. It did seem to go through front tyres quite fast I replaced them twice in two years and as a commuter vehicle say 250miles to and from work a week that seemed quite high. However it had nice styling, cheap to run a good MPG for your usual day to day small town traffic and always started even in the ice and cold of the Surrey hills. If your after a slightly cheaper Fiesta / corsa alternative or a first car its a great run around however steer well clear if you suspect it's been ragged or owned by under 20's before hand. It's typical Fiat but better than the junk they thrown out in their 500 series, if you can run it for a few years for cheap motoring however you get what you pay for in the long run you'd have been better off with a Fiesta or a Polo. Replaced mine with a 1.8 civic for more power in the hills and better reliability of parts.

Bought my grande punto in 2013, Overall a good car. The 1.9 engine has plenty of torque and power, with good mpg results. I wouldnt advise buying a red one as the colour fades very quickly particuarly on the plastic bumpers and door handle. I have accumilated 60,000 miles in the car and it has had a few issues. The first was the torque coverter failed in the electronic steering unit which cost £230. The second issue was due to heavily corroded subframe costing £90 for a second hand part and including fitting. Finally my egr valve failed costing £80. They are cheap to insure and have a good safety rating. Appart from the issues above I generaly have enjoyed owing the car and do not plan on getting rid of it soon.

Reliable car offering good value for money. Personally disappointed in comfort of driving position and slightly vague handling.

Exterior and interior are pleasant, some items seem badly converted to rhd (i.e. bonnet release catch on the wrong side). Low running costs and relatively good performance (as well as cheap purchase price) made it an attractive purchase

Beautiful car with a nice simple dash layout. However electrical problems related with water getting into the engine fuse box was a problem. I had to design my own cover for the engine fuse box to stop water getting in again! Fiat should recall the grande punto to sort out engine fuse box cover design.

The grande punto sporting jtd has been absolutely great. I had several niggles in the second year of ownership but none of them made the car undrivable, the engine never missed a beat, always got me from a to b regardless. It's roomy, good compromise on ride and handling, quick, frugal (40mpg in town, 55mpg on motorway), no creaks or rattles. Long service intervals (18k miles or 12 months), reasonably priced at main dealer and excellent service from them (lc motors in cwmbran). Loads of equipment, bluetooth, mp3 player, usb socket, 6 airbags, hill holder, panoramic sunroof... the only thing i would mark it down is the overlight electric steering, needs to be heavier. Gearbox is sweet and precise if slughtly long throw, brakes are superb. It's no fiesta to drive and won't trouble the yaris on reliability, but as an all-round proposition it was impossible to beat back in 2006 and despite niggles, she never stopped working. Fantastically priced too, £2k cheaper than the equivallent clio 1.5 dci, fabia vrs, ibiza tdi 130, fiesta tdci. Bags of character too. Never thought i would like a fiat that much...

The car itself has been exceptionally good - faultless. But i made a mistake in getting tomtom fitted - had to give it back. I felt i was being conned. And the mp3 connection did not work as promised - the fiat connection cost £80 whereas a memory stick at £5 did more or less the same job. Great car - pity about the electrickery!
