Honda Civic hatchback - Reliability & safety

No matter which version of the latest Civic you choose, you get all the safety kit that Honda offers. This means that even the entry-level model is really well equipped for safety and should score highly when it’s tested by Euro NCAP soon.

Honda Civic reliability

Reliability is unknown at the moment, since the car has only recently arrived in the UK. Honda has a good reputation for dependability, though, and the brand’s Jazz hybrid came in 32nd place in the 2023 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey. That was a decent result and the Civic should be just as reliable.

Honda itself dropped to 18th place in the 2023 manufacturer poll, although in the previous year only 15.3% of owners reported a fault within the first year of ownership, and praise was given to practicality, reliability and running costs – traditional Honda virtues. Its worst result (15th) was for infotainment, but we think the latest Civic has made up some ground here.

Safety

This generation of Honda Civic was crash-tested by Euro NCAP in late 2022 to more stringent standards than the previous Civic. Despite this, it achieved the full five stars, performing best in the Adult Occupant and Child Occupant categories. This will no doubt make the Civic an even more enticing prospect for families.

Blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic monitoring, collision mitigation tech, automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist, traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and emergency call are all standard on every version of the Honda Civic. In other words, there’s plenty of active safety technology looking out for you and your passengers as you drive, reducing the chance you’ll be involved in a collision.
