Bought my 2010 proceed used off a private seller, 10 days after buying it the engine developed a fault (piston slap) basically the piston hit the valves and bent them meaning replacement engine. I sourced a engine from a accident damaged 2011 kia ceed engine code D4FB U2 113bhp 6 speed manual, had the engine installed and "touch wood" its been ok for 1k miles. Would I recommend this car? No its been nothing but a money pit engine replacement, wheel bearing replacement, 1st and 2nd gear are tricky to select and sometimes it jumps out of gear. Useful notes the D4FB engine takes 2 different types of oil filters long and short, my D4FB U2 takes the short oil filter you can recognise if yours is a early or late U2 engine by checking the plug on the injectors also engine oil recommended is 5w30 fully synthetic c 30. Good points £30 tax per annum, 47 mpg on average, aux and usb plugins for all models.

Wanted a smooth automatic gearbox experience after driving my first car - a 2004 Toyota Yaris with a 'robotised manual' automatic gearbox. Researched a lot and decided to go for Kia rather than Vauxhall. Bought my car for 4400 with 59k miles in 2018. It's a rough ride on our roads but a nice smooth sail on 70mph motorway speeds. Strangely the engine is louder at 63-68 rather than 70+. Quite economic on cruise control up to 60 mpg easily 3k rev at 70mph. I live a 15 minute walk from work, which is a 1.5 mile drive. Get 25 mpg start and stop every 200 meters. Going to town on a longer stretch 30mph roads i can get 35 mpg easy. Issues: doors started grinding, rear seats as well. Sorted with lubricant spray. Battery changed once. Aircon repaired for a leak for £370 at Halfords but undersellers 12m warranty. Interior light gone, got led bulbs from ebay. Front left spring snapped, replaced both front springs for around £200. Brakes knock when warm everytime I stop, replaced bushings and new discs and pads, still the same, possibly calipers, brakes squeak at very low speeds. Interior acoustics are sad, on low revs around 700, amplifies the low frequencies from engine and exhaust so it feels like sitting in a tank on lights and junctions, quiet and smooth engine otherwise. Cleaned cloth interior properly after purchase, but still get smudges from wet clothes or umbrellas, annoying. Sound system is nice, but reads USB in last modified sequence, so can't shuffle. Steering is light and easy. All in all happy with the car and how spacious it is inside (im 6'3"), will upgrade in a couple of years to a compact suv or a hybrid.
