Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento is a large seven-seat SUV that combines tough, rugged off-roader looks, with a decent on-road drive – and all for a sensible price. There is a 2.4-litre petrol, five-seat entry-level model available, but we’d recommend opting for the punchy 2.2-litre diesel engine instead. Seven seats are standard on diesels, and leather trim comes on all but the base car. Equipment like air conditioning, electric windows and MP3-compatible stereos is standard on all cars.
- pros:
- Spacious cabin
- Very comfortable ride
- Long list of standard kit
- cons:
- Interior quality could be better
- Cheapest models only with five-seats
- Some rivals better to drive
Where the Kia Sportage is more a case of style and fun over practicality, the Sorento offers the opposite. It doesn't have the sharp styling or engaging drive of its smaller sibling but it does have a hugely spacious cabin with room for seven and a good range of diesel engines. While it feels comfortable and safe on the road, it's not exactly fun.
