Kia Soul
The Kia Soul shows that superminis don’t have to all look the same. Its chunky, boxy looks and optional bright paint colours and graphics make it stand out. The interior is impressively spacious and simply laid out, although some of the plastics are a bit scratchy and the seats don’t fold as easily as those in a Honda Jazz. The Soul doesn’t drive as well as it looks, either, with a firm ride making the Kia uncomfortable on longer journeys.
- pros:
- Lots of cabin space
- High driving position and good forward visibility
- Loads of personalisation options
- cons:
- Small boot relative to cabin space
- Comfort lacking on poorer road surfaces
- Not great value, especially for a Kia
Look beyond the Kia Soul's distinctive styling and there's no shortage of appeal. The car's boxy shape means cabin space is plentiful, but the small boot means it's not as good a family car as, say, the Honda Jazz. Its tall shape means visibility is good, but it's not as fun to drive as a ‘normal’ hatchback like the Ford Fiesta, and nor does it offer the value of other Kias.
