"The GranCabrio is one of the most stylish and desireable convertibles that money can buy. Combining incredible performance and enough space for four large adults, few convertibles can genuinely compete with the grand tourers versatility."

It's one of the most luxurious convertible GT's on the road, but owning one doesn't come cheap. Starting from £98,000, the Maserati GranCabrio has a pricetag to match is size. Running costs are high too, but for the money you do get one the most stylish and desireable convertibles on the road. Powered by a Ferrari-sourced 4.7-litre V8, 0-62mph takes only 5.4 seconds and the noise from the engine is incredible. The huge levels of interior room combined with the storage space needed for the roof does mean that boot space is almost non existant though, but the GranCabrios is all about style and its uniquess and strong levels of desiraeblity mean that it should hold its value better than most other cars in its class.

Drive

4.4 /5
Steering is nicely weighted, with lots of feedback and the car feels balanced through corners and resists body roll well

The GranCabrio is a heavy car weighing in at 1,980kg but despite this performance is still impressive. 0-62mph takes only 5.4 seconds and the 434bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine sounds simply incredible on the move. Steering is nicely weighted, with lots of feedback and the car feels balanced through corners and resists body roll well.

Mated to a six-speed semi-automatic gearbox, you are given the choice of either full auto mode, if you are looking for an effortless ride or manual, if you are interested in a more engaging experience.

Comfort

4.5 /5
There are few Grand Tourers that deliver a better package to travel long distances in

The GranCabrio is supremely refined and with its generous levels of cabin space, there are few Grand Tourers that deliver a better package to travel long distances in. Sound insulation within the cabin is excellent, too whether the roof up or down and Maserati has done an expert job ensuring that even with the roof down the cars aerodynamaics do a great job deflecting as much of the noise away from the cabin as possible.

Reliability

3.9 /5
Reliability has never been a strength of Italian manufacturers, but this is beginning to change and recent Maserati's have been testament to this

Reliability has never been a strength of Italian manufacturers, but this is beginning to change and recent Maserati's have been testament to this. The GranCabrio is another big leap in the right direction and is one of the most reliable cars the manufacturer has ever produced. A lot of the interior materials do feel and look cheap though and are perhaps not as reliable as those that you might find in most German rivlas.

Practicality

3.9 /5
Even with its roof in place, the GranCabrio exudes luxury, with more than enough space for four large passengers

Measuring almost five metres in length, Maserati's Grancabrio can feel uncomfortably large around town and is not the easiest car to park either. But what it lacks in exterior practiclaity it makes up for with interior. Even with its roof in place, the GranCabrio exudes luxury, with more than enough space for four large passengers. But all of this space plus extra room to stow the folded canvas roof means that the GranCabrio is left a lowly 173 litres of boot space, barely enough room to fit multiple overnight bags.

Value for money

4.1 /5
The GranCabrio's exclusivity also means that its residual values are relatively good

The GranCabrio is not a cheap car to buy, prices start from just under £100,00 but this value is not dissimilar to its closest rivals. For this though, you do get a lot of space, huge amounts of power and unrivalled desireability. The GranCabrio's exclusivity also means that its residual values are relatively good.

Running costs

3.1 /5
Mileage is well under 20mpg at best and insurance and road tax is just about as high as it gets

Like with the majority of supercars, owning a GranCabrio is not cheap. Mileage is well under 20mpg at best and insurance and road tax is just about as high as it gets.
