When first purchased this car was excellent. It gave me no issues, recently though while I was asleep I noticed a red glow through my windows the cars rear lights had come on by themselves, and the car was suffering from a massive battery drain. next morning nothing, no power, no doors. So off to a good independent, part was apparently a rear sam unit that had to be ordered from Germany, in the meantime a whole host of other problems reared their head. Not to mention the gearbox went into a security mode and now will not engage to drive, it's been a month now without my vehicle, and its genuinely worrying just how complicated these vehicles are to diagnose, not to mention the ridiculous waiting time for parts from Germany.

I have owned many Mercedes E-class estates over the years and I have to say that this new E400d is by far the best car I have ever owned. I had a CLS 350 'shooting brake' before, but I needed more space and decided to go back to the E class estate. The E400d engine had only been out a short while in the E class estate, and was new to me when I was looking to buy in July 2019. It's a sweet, powerful engine with a lovely growl when you floor it, but then in normal driving conditions it purrs along. The fuel economy is tremendous, I achieved 53.5 mpg whilst driving up to Scotland on one trip which is amazing for a car of this size, I average mid to late 40’s most of the time. With the air suspension the car glides you along over our rough potholed British roads, it is sure footed due to it being 4matic, as yet I haven’t been able to test this in snow. I fitted a detachable towbar as my wife and I are caravanners, what a treat, you don’t even know the caravan is on the back as the car has huge amounts of torque to deal with this. As you may have gathered, I love this car and would highly recommend it to anybody who is out in the market looking for one. I’ve had the car for six months and have clocked up 10,000 miles, this summer my wife and I are planning to do a month-long road trip through Europe and I couldn’t think of a better vehicle to do this in. Well done Mercedes.

Was purchased to replace a 2017 C Class Estate. The quality difference was immediately apparent. While two previous C Classes were plagued by rattles and squeaks this car feels like it’s much more solidly put together. Exceptionally comfortable, very refined, especially on the motorway and with the upgraded 2.0 Diesel engine noticeably more economical what’s not to like. 360 Camera is a boon in car parks and for tight manoeuvres.

Really excellent car, comfortable, amazingly economically (I've seen 55.5mpg over the first 1,000miles). Very relaxing car to drive, engine & transmission quiet & effective. Obviously loads of space, one downside is that it's too long for most car park spaces.

Absolutely fantastic car, very comfortable, good on fuel - especially on motorway trips, I've seen nearly 70mpg at times. Modes actually make the car behave differently. The massive centre screen is really clear and a real talking point. All the kit you could need as standard including adaptive dampers and a rear view camera. Boot is huge. The car is a bit daunting to drive round tight car parks but camera and sensors help with this.

Had the car as new during its first 3 years. Manufactured in 2015. Top notch in comfort, spacious and practical interior, reliability. No challenges with anything. Saw the service only once a year while driving 14,000 miles a year.
