This car is a bit of a curate's egg. Fantastic ride, fantastic comfort, oodles of space, excellent fuel consumption for size. However, one MAJOR snag: reliabilty. It has let me down on the road twice in three years. That's much worse than any other car I've owned. And when I try to get it repaired, the local dealer acts as though they are doing me a favour. And, of course) repairs are very expensive. I expected expensive repairs but I never expected to need so many. Maybe it's a Freitag Nachmittag car!!

This car is just awesome, fast, comfortable, reliable. I bought this car when it was a year old, fully loaded with every safety feature you can imagine. Yes very expensive to buy but in my opinion worth every penny.

I have owned this car for 2 years now. It is an 11 year old car. I have had a number things done on the car under the warranty. It is a must to take out a warranty with any used car you are looking to purchase, always take out the top warranty if it is available, for peace of mind. With all cars whether new or used you will get certain things which need replacing depending on age and mileage. It is just one of those things that happen, which is out of our control. I know it frightens most motorists when purchasing big expensive cars for the fraction of the price, but if you are in doubt always take a an experienced mechanic who is familiar with whatever make or model of car you are looking to purchase, also make sure it has Full Service History. It also down to individual taste, which can be anything eg. price, quality, reliability, colour, styling etc. It is a pleasure driving the Mercedes, for I owned the old S Class W140 May 1997 registration, from 2004 to 2016,that car only covered 113,000 miles of that I only covered 59,000, in the little over 11 years I owned it. No major issues with that car in the time I owned it. I am glad to say that it has gone to a good home.

Been a nightmare from day one. Currently in garage needing a new engine (which was previously replaced), suspension strut, plus other suspension parts, engine mount, turbo hoses, alternator, all rear seat belt sensors and one entire belt, virtually all of the Ad Blue system apart from tank and pipes and oil cooler. Driver's seat heater failed and downstream NOX sensor failed. Merc response: too high mileage. Serviced throughout by Merc

This car is fantastic, apart from the fact it is always in the dealership because they cannot fix a stalling issue. They have had it 10% of the time I have owned it. I had a BMW 7 Series before for 5 years and had no trouble.

My car is 25 yrs old, ( 500 sec merc ) with old style comfort, I only do about 3000 per. yr. so fuel cost is not a factor. My mercedes has a few crusty bits, but still turns heads, I cost me £ 1,200:00 4years ago and only cost me about £ 100:00 In running costs other than m.o.t.s ,tyres, service and the like.

A very comfortable and quiet running car in general. Let down by abs & bas faults appearing intermittently (especially when driving on snow - i.e. just when you need it!) Thirsty - average 30mpg.

Most roomy and reliable comfortable car i have driven, beats jags, bentley, rolls, lexus and smaller mercs, instils confidence for long drives anywhere there is petrol. Easy to drive in all conditions.

Had continuous problems with this car when the upchange of gears was violent to the point where it used to shake the car. Mercedes were useless at trying to fix it ( 7 weeks )! I think it was resolved in the end with several software adjustments. Comfortable car but i wouldn't consider buying one without an MB warranty.

The longer i have owned it the more i have come to appreciate just what a superb all rounder my s class 320 cdi is. It covers long distances with the minimum of fuss, is reasonably economic for its size and gives considerable pride in ownership. During the last year i have travelled in both the 7 series bmw abd the top of the range lexus and neither seem quite as special as the s class.

Excellent, expensive to run but brilliant drive and level of comfort and extras. My son loves the gadgets on the seats, he can actually stand in theback and lie flat when the seats are level.

Super quality finish, standard kit, ride, comfort, quiet - just a great car in all weather conditions. Provided you are not a town/high mileage driver, it gives reasonable mpg for the class. It makes driving a pleasure - nothing seems rushed. All is calm - you feel insulted and protected from the rush and noise outside.Yet It's a car to be driven at pace and with the power to put a smile on your face - to enjoy that growl from the v-six as you accelerate!!! Weaknesses? Lack of protection for paint on wheel arches and under rear number plate mean it's vulnerable to rust.

The quietest, smoothest car i have ever owned. Also, has a frighteningly powerful turn of speed whenever it's needed (which admittedly isn't very often for me but it's nice to have it on tap anyway). Leather seats are comfortable and easily adjustable via electric controls and the heated seats are great in winter. handling in snow is a knack you get used to with some trial & error - i switch to winter drive setting and take it nice & gentle. It's never let me down so far. Very satisfied with this car.

The car never misses a beat. The only problem in the 18 months i have had it is the tyre pressue valves that monitor the air pressure. They corrode far to easily and need replacing, other than that this is fine engineering and it does evrything it says on the tin so to speak

Characterful, comfortable and reliable. Better engineered than a modern car but you pay for it's age in higher petrol costs. It's also very easy to fix as it's so simple, very little computerized technology. I will be sad when it's time to change it...

It's a big old barge and it just 'wafts' us around the country in obscene comfort and safety. And it looks slow, so you don't get pulled doing 120 on the m way.
