Great medium sized roadster with the benefit of an automated hard top for the best of both worlds.

Worst car ever, gearbox repired 8/9 times, but still not right, traction control replaced, exhaust replaced one sid, new windsceen replaced as scratched by wiper but never worked properly after replaced( rain sensitive) seat folded in half, many parts replaced, never really comfortable, my xjs c much more comfortable. Car started to lose total power, stop, did not cut out( still ticking over) and after a short while carried on as normal. The gearbox used to stick in first gear, was never cured. Car cost with all extras £43k it was rubbish. I am abroad 7 months a year, had charge to keep charge while abroad, even that packed up after 4 years £99.( Friend had sl 500, he had as many if not more problems than me.) I only did 9800 miles in 5 years, have just sold it. Hurray

Mercedes ought to be able to cure a rattle in the roof, there from new. Suspension should not require rebuild at 25k miles Pretty car, new replacement is hideous.

Pleased overall, but the paint finish on the car when delivered was very poor i.e. orange peel effect, and had to go to a bodyshop to be 'flat & polished', plus discount was given on the price paid for the car by mercedes uk. I would look very carefully at the paint finish in future, which in part has been [ut down to the water based paints now in use.

Amazing. It's my second slk and when i am done with this one, i will get another. Cannot fault the driver experience, or the mechanicals. Servicing expensive but i found an independent who does it for a reasonable price.

A good fun-car but servicing and spares a far too expensive. Over-engineered in many respects and complicated problems seem beyond most main dealer mechanics.

Good quality, reliable, easy and comfortable to drive and quick but not especially sporting. Folding roof excellent.

It's a great car - feels very safe with fantastic performance. Wonderful with the top down.

Software issues on the auto-box - fixed with a simple re-programe in less than an hour. Cd autochanger had poor playback quality - fixed with a replacement under warranty.

The slk 55 amg is a stylish, fast, reliable convertible that is remarkably cheap to maintain in comparison to others in it's peer group. I love driving it, it turns heads, particularly when the tops down. All in all a great car.
