Build quality is much, much better than many magazine reviews imply. Having driven a few Mondeo and Vectra company cars I would say that the quality of the plastics used in the dashboard are just as good. My friend has a Mondeo taxi built in the same year as my MG6 and the dashboard material lacks lustre compared to the MG. As for the body work, the steel feels very solid and thick and all the panels fit perfectly. My only concern is that the paint seems thin. As for driving, I love it and can't find any niggles in this department. It feels sure footed at all times and is smooth and feels 'solid' on the road. My only complaint is that although it has a Turbo charged petrol engine, I would have preferred the engine to have been 2.0L rather than 1.8L just to give a little more torque when starting off as this is a large car. It looks good, visually well designed with the very shallow rake of the rear tailgate, (MG describes the car as a Fastback rather than a Hatch), making it look sporty like the Jaguar XF. Although a little chrome around the windows would look better rather than just the black rubber seals. The one major niggle I have, and there aren't many, is the heater controls that are positioned too low down on the centre console and behind the gear stick which makes them difficult to see and operate when you are driving, especially if you are in 5th gear where the gear lever obscures them completely. This is the only design fault I can really find. Overall, I have been extremely pleased with the car. I also find that because it is an MG, and perhaps because mine is also Black, that I have been stopped in the petrol station a couple of times and complemented on the cars looks and the fact it is an MG.

Very pleased with the performance and handling, everything works well with the exception of the nav which very occasionally does not! its a very comfortable drive. All fixtures and fittings are fine but it does have a slight mottled effect on the lower silver painted bumper trim which is not life threatening!

6 week old car, was collected from MG Sales Centre Birmingham with no engine oil in it, no fluid in windscreen and headlamp washers, no balance weights on the front wheels, PDI page not completed or stamped in service book interior leather covered in greasy finger marks. Within 2 week the silver inserts in the front and back bumper had discoloured and gone 'mottled' ( common fault) and after 1500 miles 6 weeks old the clutch is slipping. another common fault pressure plate is not up to the job Initially they agreed to replace / refund my money. the next day as the car was older than 30 days all they want to do is replace the clutch which will probably happen again. Their customer service is appalling and contacting MG is impossible. The car is nice to drive and I like it. but let down by appalling lack of customer care, having spent a lot of cash for the clutch to fail @ 1500 miles I won't ever buy another MG once they have your money they don't care.

Traded in a Mini convertible for my MG, after reading reviews wasn't expecting the same quality but I was surprised, very well finished and drives superbly. Bought the car pre-registered and saved nearly £7000 on new price, a lot of car for the price, can't fault it hope it continues.

Purchased a 13 plate petrol version a couple of months back and all going well so far. Drives great and is loaded with kit for the price. Only quibble is the handbrake which pulls straight up and then seems to lurch back an inch after it has been applied. Compensated for by the hill-hold facility though, which I was surprised to find on a car of this price.

I have had this car for 6 weeks & quite honestly i cant fault it . Value for money motoring with all the mod cons , i went for the top of the range & my only criticism is the display on the climate control is not sharp & the steering wheel controls can be a bit fiddly, other than that perfect

Very nice, fast, very smooth, good handling. There are some very bad reviews of this car and they are totally underestimated in my estimations. When I bought this car I was driving only 300 miles a week at the time so seemed a no-brainer. I liked the look of it and it had few miles on the clock; MG was a good brand despite its Chinese owners now it does lack some charm. I don’t really need it now (Job location has relocated) but during its time I’ve had to replace the front brake pads as it wasn’t stopping well enough for me and sort a new sounder out for the alarm as it kept going off after putting a better battery in.The car is smooth and very spacious and has a very large boot, it’s well made despite having some interior features being off-putting it's great. My 2 biggest gripes are 1) Key for the car it’s a horrible plastic fob and I still can’t understand why the emergency key is in the fob (if you lose it you're in a mess). 2) The CD player not working but it has a USB connection so I just plug a USB stick in it the car As a used car I was only given 1 key so I hope you see my problem. MG isn't really that helpful and don’t want to know, I get the impression, but the car is a little gem in my opinion I’m just reluctant to part with it as I love it so much.

I have had my MG6 just over two years. Im more than impressed by the build quality given the poor reviews in the press. Only one minor problem with plug leads which was easily sorted by my local dealer under warranty. The car is lively and as returned an average of 38 mpg over the two years. Handling and comfort is perfect for me. I would place it between a Rover and Mg Zt. Excellent car.

its a decent enough car to look at and is at its best on good A roads or motorways but on lesser roads its a pain having to change down @45mph and on even a slight hill strugles in 5th. as far as reliability is concerned it gets only one star, the comuter controlling the information screen gets confused very easily and mechanical reliability is not that great either, had a new flywheel, clutch and release bearing at under 18000 miles and turbo boost pipe fell apart at 15000 with plus depreciation is horrendous

Bought my mg6 last november mainly on looks and turbo, first 3 months were brilliant but then fourth gear wouldn't engage took it back to dealer where I bought it they were superb fixed the linkage and the car was perfect (was still under manufacturers warranty) 3 months after the warranty ran out it went again the dealers were brill again and did every thing they could to sort it but needed a new gear box - £2,000 worth. MG were absolutley pathetic they offered me £500 towards the price which shows it was not right when it broke under warranty, I emailed them and got a crappy reply, I like the car but i would not reccommend them to any one due to way you are treated by MG.

I have owned this car for two years and it has never let me down once, it does do the stated mpg when I am driving around town and on the motorway, (unlike the Ford that I drive for work and the Fiat Bravo I used to own). When it comes to the service it's proving to be very cheap, it is light on the tyre and brakes, even the filters aren't getting that full or showing many signs of use I do about 16,000 miles a year.
