Nissan GT-R owner reviews

“While it’ll be too hardcore for many drivers, if you can put up with the noisy motorway experience and high bills, the Nissan GT-R is one of the fastest cars in the world”

I am lucky enough to be regularly in and out of many new Ferraris, Lambos and Mclarens on and off the track. Yet, my rating of the standard GT-R is - that it’s just epic regardless of the best of the so-called best. I bought my first one in 2017 (expecting to not love it) and recently managed to get one of the 18 50th Anniversary ones that were sold last year in the UK. I read the review here in disbelief! I have often blasted my ones over Exmoor on tortuous twisting heavily cambered roads that includes costs and troughs and these cars belie their weight. The last time I did such a drive just after Xmas, I laughed aloud and in my mind the words ‘this thing is dancing over this’. What an incredible machine. I have enjoyed fantastic reliability and the cars in their latest form (2017 model year on) are supremely comfortable real mile-munchers and just waiting for the moment they can be unleashed. I really wonder if the tester here actually drove the car in earnest off the track. Key point, the Nismo is track focused. The standard cars are set up for the UK’s bumps and lumps on a typical country lane. The tyres are specifically engineered for the cars and the wet grip is beyond belief, four-wheel drive adding so much to its ability to put the power down but the tyres themselves are a work of art. So many cars have some many design flaws and quirks, not these. I guess in part that comes from 10 years of evolution. Buy one. These cars are a love affair for those that own them. Unique.

This car is absolutely superb. I previously drove an Audi R8 and this car is superior in every respect and was £30k less expensive. The Carbuyer review describes the car as uncomfortable but all supercars are stiff, the GTR is in fact more comfortable than most of its rivals and can effortlessly take on long motorway driving without discomfort for the driver or passengers. Yes, the beautifully upholstered rear seats would not be comfortable for those with long legs, but no other car with this shattering performance even has rear seats... The steering is direct, but never in five years of daily driving GTRs have I found the car following a line other than the one I was steering it towards, it simply remains glued to the road. The review was also uncomplimentary about the car's internal trim, I am amazed. The car provides extraordinary engine and systems live data and, while performing like a racing car, plays the music from your mobile and gives you a DAB radio and DVD player. I say to anyone who asks, that there is no car I would swap mine for. If you can only afford to drive one car, nothing compares to this one. The boot holds my golf clubs and my wife's, and both our golf trolleys and much more besides, what other car, which can accelerate to 62 mph in less than 3 seconds, can boast practicality like that? If you can't afford a new GTR buy a second hand one as they are bullet proof and can't be 'thrashed' unless they've lived on a racetrack. Pound for pound this is an amazing car, in fact it is just amazing full stop.

Surprises me every time i drive it, it is tremendously awesome, every time i drive it i am reminded how lucky i am. I had read a great deal about the car before buying it, and the positive reviews helped me decide but what really swung it was the test drive and seeing it up close. Reads like an advert!

I have been lucky enough to own some quick cars in my time, a Porsche 911 Turbo, a BMW M3 & an M2, a Mitsubishi Evo FQ400 (this one was particularly good), but this GTR blitz’s all of them! It's not only extremely good looking, but the speed of the thing is mind boggling! The handling defies physics, and yes it’s not blessed with an interior as luxurious as the Porsche or BMW, but I can honestly say it knocks the socks off them all. The Japanese sure know what they're doing, love it!

I've had the car two years, A few months after soon after i purchased it I had Litchfield sprinkle some magic on it. The car is a beast, gets untold attention as its not just a poster car for children but also adults. Love driving it, makes you feel alive an boosts your driving confidence to the point where one would apply for a job as the next Stig. All fairness the car is great reliable, cheap to run (not as bad as its made out) 20k miles brakes only 20% used. I've had two services under service pack so cost zero so far. (Oh yes 1st set of tyres changed at 16k miles cost £1024 for all 3 MPSS 4's) Very reasonable. Only two complaints: BOSE stereo sound great a tad louder would be awesome. I missed out on Apple Carplay as it was introduced in 2018 :( Apart from that she is an absolute gem of car no problems whatsoever, each drive is an adventure.

An extreme performance car but with design issues regarding operation of gearbox when manoeuvring in confined spaces or on slopes. Also a serious problem with spoiler clearance when trying to drive into many hotel car parks when using it for touring.

Do not want to sound big headed but I have had a Porsche Carrera 4 and an Audi R8. They are nowhere near as much fun to drive as the GTR, the power is awesome and drive it in manual with the paddles and you literally have to hang on, every time I drive it. I absolutely love it, I cannot understand people who say it is thirsty and expensive to run what an earth did they expect? Just do not use a main dealer, I drive it nearly 3 hours to take it to "Kaizer Motors" in Kent who are fantastic. The only slight criticism is it is a bit noisy inside compared to the other 2 cars I mentioned. Buy it. Luv it.

Fantastic performance for the money and yet still has a recognisable road presence as a genuine super car. Overly heavy though and really no need for such weighty powered electric heated seats for example. Car parts are very expensive and tyres are a nightmare to source. Fuel economy and range of tank poor, but these are the only negative points of an otherwise superb car which although not in the least bit pretty i wouldn't want to change for anything else.
