Nissan Pixo
Nissan's entry-level supermini is the Pixo. It's only available with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, and is best suited to city driving, where its tiny engine and small size make nipping though traffic easy. Around town, it's quiet and rides well, but when roads get faster, the Pixo struggles to keep up with traffic. The Pixo isn’t particularly exciting to look at, but the interior is well laid out. Four people can travel in reasonable comfort, although the rear seats and boot are a bit of a squeeze. The Pixo is basic and standard equipment is limited, but it's cheap to buy and run.
- pros:
- Very cheap to buy
- Top spec Tekna trim cars are very well equipped
- Room for four inside
- cons:
- Budget feel
- Steering lacks precision
- Noisy at speed
Nissan's Pixo is one of the UK's cheapest new cars. Sharp eyed car buyers might notice that this car is all but identical to the Suzuki Alto - and that's because the car is built by Suzuki at its factory in India. Inside, it's no-frills cabin is plain, yet comfortable, the engine is less impressive however. With only 67bhp it's fuel efficient, but very weak. The 0-60mph sprint takes around 14 seconds when the car is specified with a manual gearbox, and 17 seconds when fitted with an automatic.
