MPG, running costs & CO2 Rating

3.5 out of 5

If you go for the SE or SEL model, the SEAT Alhambra offers you a choice of 1.4-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel power – both producing 148bhp. The higher-spec Xcellence models are diesel-only, but you have a choice of power outputs: 148 or 175bhp.

SEAT Alhambra MPG & CO2

The most efficient SEAT Alhambra is the 148bhp 2.0-litre Ecomotive diesel version with a six-speed manual gearbox. It'll return up to 44.1mpg and emits 135g/km of CO2 for a 35% Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) band for company-car drivers - thanks to the extra surcharge on diesels.

Regardless of trim level, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are slightly higher when this engine is paired with the DSG automatic gearbox.

Whichever model you go for, the Alhambra is reasonably efficient for a large MPV but the Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer and Ford Galaxy are both more economical. All models come with stop-start and braking energy recovery systems as standard.

Insurance group

The SEAT Alhambra shouldn't be that expensive to insure. Both 148bhp versions sit in groups 20-22 depending on trim level, while the more powerful 175bhp model has a group 25 rating.

Warranty

SEAT offers a three-year/60,000-mile warranty, with the first two years covered for unlimited mileage. You also get two years of Europe-wide breakdown recovery, while the corrosion warranty lasts for 12 years. There’s an option to buy an extended warranty, too. Around £450 gets you four years or 75,000 miles of cover, while around £750 gives you five years or 90,000 miles of peace of mind.

Servicing

Fixed-price servicing for a three-year/30,000-mile period allows you to budget for running costs. It’s payable in monthly instalments of around £20, so the Alhambra isn’t too expensive to maintain. These deals exclude consumables such as tyres and brake pads, however.
