I bought ours used from a franchised dealer when it was 3 years old with 19K miles for what I considered a bargain price of £4,000. It's the only car in this class that my 6ft son was comfortable in the driving seat. We've owned it for 2 years and it's mainly used to commute on a 36 mile round trip on fast roads and motorway. We're getting near enough 60 MPG so we only have to fill up every fortnight. This years main dealer service was expensive [£600+] as it included the recommended 5-yearly cambelt belt change and a new heat shield. Otherwise we have had no reliability issues whatsoever. The tyres and brakes are unchanged from when bought and still have a year in them, there's been no oil consumption to speak of. All in all it's nice to drive, reliable and cheap to run with £30 road tax and group 1 insurance. It's an ideal car for first time drivers and a great second car runabout for a 2 car household. I've given 4 stars due to the service costs but as our car's now over 5 years old I'll probably use an independent garage next year.

Previous cars include 3 Audi S3's all very high spec, Ford Focus ST and Mazda RX8. What can this car offer me? I love it. I can not think of one minus point. It's very enjoyable to drive with great steering and a peppy little engine. Achieves comical MPG – I cannot get it under 40 on any run and 50 plus is the norm. I've even had it into the 60s without trying. It's highly recommended to anyone of any age. A great first car to have as very reliable and build quality is excellent.

Superb car, very good fuel consumption and no fuel tax, as well as cheap insurance. It's very comfortable except the non-adjustable seat belts. Cheap servicing and reliable – I have now got 91450 miles on the clock and never a single problem. My Skoda dealer has been excellent, too. I recommend this little cracker to anyone!

Love my little car, only 2 snags.... As I have a 3 door, if I am "taxi service" for the kids, it's sometimes difficult getting in the back, seats don't seem to go forward enough, and the clutch makes a noise when I am releasing my foot of the pedal. Skoda say it is a known problem, but can't fix it until they know how to!!!

Good fun to drive and very economical. A little bit breathless on the open road. Seats could be more supportive and comfortable - especially over longer journeys. Has proved reliable so far (5000 miles only). Ride is smooth and handling is impressive for a city car.

On my first trip from Wales to Gatwick airport the Citigo kept up with motorway traffic fine, but as this is my first petrol car in 15yrs the lack of lowdown grunt will take getting use to. But I am driving a round with a BIG smile on my face. Mine now has 1,000 miles under its belt and I love it. No wonder VW are not putting the bigger engines in this car!

We have had the Monte Carlo now for 2 years but due to now having 3 dogs it's having to go. First of all the best bits.... It's fun to drive, easy to drive, good in fuel, amazing how comfy it is on a motorway journey. In 2 years not missed a beat. People complain that it's slow and no room in the boot, well don't buy one. I had a 1.9tdi Fabia's before this and only problem with the small engine was over taking tractors on country lanes but manageable with planning. My wife and I took the car to Wales on a weeks holiday and managed to fit 3 big bags and other bits in the boot. I bought a variable floor and it was a good idea. Bad bits are very few. The Monte Carlo doesn't come with heated mirrors and there are no strings on the parcel shelf which I kept forgetting to put down.

Had the car 9 months now and still love it. It handled the trip to Wales with ease, fitted one big bag and two smaller bags in the boot plus a few bits abs bats. Even with the car fully loaded it managed 74 mpg with a light right foot and gage was half way when it reached 300 miles. The seats were a delight to travel on and still are. Now it's winter a couple of small niggles, the Monte Carlo does not have heated mirrors and I do miss these on frosty/ wet days the other is condensation in a morning takes ages to clear. Decided when my PCP is up I will give the car back to Skoda since it will be worth less then what my final payment will be. Overall a comfortable small car.

Less than 6,000 miles and the automatic gearbox has developed a problem (gears won't engage). The Skoda repair garage does not have any courtesy cars available for a week and no automatics at all. They are saying allow two days for them to check the car.

Solid and reliable, but some poor design. Noisy engine and gearbox, no clock, headlights poor, takes ages to defrost in winter, and thoroughly dull to drive, Panda is so much better and more fun.

This has been great for the 3 years I've owned it from new. It provides great fuel economy, and a fairly comfortable ride. It's a little sluggish on hills but that's to be expected from a 1.0-litre car. The only problem I've had is that the back brake sometimes sticks and clunks when moving it to get it unstuck. Other than that it's been faultless.

I have just replaced my previous SE-L Greentech with another one after two faultless years and over 15k miles. I opted for the 60PS, rather than the 75 PS this time - reasoning that there's no noticeable difference in the performance below 4,000rpm, but there is a marginal improvement in fuel economy. The new one is the facelifted model, with a vastly improved radio, rear parking sensors and numerous cosmetic improvements that have made a superb car into an even better one - at least from a Drivers' and passengers' point of view. Skoda seems to have kept what was good and improved what needed improvement - although the removal of the PID and it being replaced with a Smart Phone function was a retrograde step in my opinion. Not all of us are "Techno" freaks, but buying a top-of-the-range Sat Nav made up the deficit. One VERY useful extra to pay for when ordering from new, is the Dot Matrix system (around £230) as it replaces all of the functions that was on the old PID, and also gives much-enhanced instruments in the Binnacle. All-in-all, it's an extremely desirable little car, especially in its' current form, although NOT as cheap to run previously, as the road fund license has now been re-introduced (it costs £120 in year One, followed by £140 on subsequent years, although that's down to the Government)

I've had the car over 5 years now and it is still going at 134K on the clock. My 2012 model is tax free, is economical and in a low insurance group so a great value car. Mine has coped really well with high mileage, even though is a car which most would not see as a commuting car. The 60PS engine isn't particularly powerful when going up hill or pulling off - once it gets going you can comfortably reach and maintain motorway speeds, although the gearbox can be rather stiff and gets worse as the car gets older. Safety is very good, but the frame is quite lightweight and can get easily marked and you have to slam the door a bit to make sure it shuts properly. Whilst it was very well maintained with regular services I had no issues with the car until it reached about 120K when I had to get a new clutch kit and then at 130K the starter motor went. But as 1 of the 1st models, we don't yet know what mileage it can get too and how durable it will be once the miles clock up.

Good and reliable car. Remarkably capacious inside. I feel comfortable inside, I am 1.85m tall. Good seats and handling. As with all Skoda cars hooks and compartments are thought through and positioned in the right places. Not the case with VW. I had two Polos and Golf and A4 in the past so I know the family. The engine is lively and economical. My car has loads of equipment cruise control, etc. Sound system is good. I would not hesitate to get another one when this one becomes too old.

Downsized from a very large car, as motoring requirements had radically changed. Cannot find (after 6,000 miles) any problems whatsoever, but did upgrad headlight bulbs, as I felt that the originals were somewhat lacking in power: had rear parking sensors fitted, & had much better tyres than the factory-fitted originals, fitted. Now, the car performs everything that I want from a car. The sheer power is somewhat lacking, but driven within its' limitations, it's fine.

Car drives perfect and the MPG is fab, however it is a very slow car, suits my needs, two kids fit perfectly, and luggage for the 4 of us fits perfectly. Noise comes from the gearbox, suspect thrust bearing? Brakes poor, better with discs at the back

Super little car, first Skoda I had ever owned and driven, typically over 53mpg. Racked up 12,000 miles in the first 3months of owning, pleased to say had no problems, (other then a bent heat shield, and a flat tire after my partner took a couple of pot holes a little quick) often used fully laden for 200+mile trips. Engine some times lacks power, but it's not built to be fast, that being said it likes to cruise at a good motorway speed for hours on end. Very good heated seats.

Generally pleased. The Citigo drives nicely, but there's a bit of road noise. The gearbox is very good and the brakes are excellent. Handling and comfort are good. I find the windows fog up very easily and the lights are poor. The radio is OK, but the speakers are poor in my opinion. Economy is excellent and performance is quite good. The engine is has only three cylinders, but it's quote smooth and quiet if you're prepared to use the gears. It gets a bit noisier if you rev it hard, though. Inside, storage space could be better and the door pockets are very shallow.

We have had the car now for a month and put 500 miles on the clock. This is my fourth Skoda having owned my last fabia for 8 years, this was a top of range model which had cruise, heated seats/mirrors and reversing aid but my new car has none of these. Do I miss my old car... do I 'eck I love my citigo, ok not as powerful as my old car and boot is a lot smaller but when getting a city car you know or should know what you are purchasing. The boot is small but you can fit 8 shopping bags because it is so deep, we had the variable boot cover fitted and this helps when seats are folded. The engine needs to be worked on motorways but once up to speed you can whizz past other cars no problem. For me the best thing is the seats, so comfortably on long journeys. The PID unit which came with the car is great. Only slight niggle is I keep forgetting to put the rear boot shelve down since it is not on strings but this is my fault. Great car for parking too. Loads of room up front and in back but only for two people tho. Big test is when we go to Wales for a week will it handle the extra weight. Will I keep this car for another 8 years not sure but I love it.

This is my wife's 2nd Skoda automatic, the previous one was the Fabia. In the main we are very pleased with this car. We have done a 200 mile round trip to relations and it was fine. On the whole for longer journeys we would use my Octavia. Our problem is on 2 occasions it has refused to start. I thought the gear leaver was not fully in neutral but no. Had to wiggle the stick 4 times before it started. Local Skoda dealer are going to have it for 2 days (loan car supplied) to investigate. The service receptionist at the Skoda has had same problem with a manual. I think it has got to be a electronic switch issue. Other than that is better than the 2005 Fabia. Seats better support, heated front seat better. As regards the automatic what can you expect from a 1 litre automatic. If I want to 'drive' /help the car I simply switch to manual. No problem - no clutch to worry about. Then return to auto when the road condition that you wanted to control has past. In contrast the Fabia auto was slooow! I would like believe all cars should have the option of folding wing mirrors. Yes we will stay a Skoda family.

Dreadful. Sometimes it wont go into Drive - just makes a loud roaring sound & doesn't move. Long hesitation when gears change. Slips out of drive either when I'm driving or when I stop for traffic/roundabouts/lights. Was told it was the same as another version that I'd test drove- NO it wasn't!

Sure the car (even the Elegance model) is a tad on what is generally regarded as the basic side these days, but you pays your money & you gets what you pay for. If you want more creature comforts, then buy a more expensive car! It's comfortable enough - albeit a tad on the noisy side when accelerating: it's fast enough, even on the motorway - it's very easy to find that one is doing 85 mph or more if one is not careful with the foot - even if the acceleration is somewhat lacking, but that's what you get from a traditional 3 pot small engine. It's been TOTALLY reliable so far, it's unbelievably cheap to run & insure: it's roomy enough for 3 people, & basically it does what most people who buy one, expect & demand. Possible downside - the factory-fitted tyres by Skoda were a tad (a LOT) cheap-&-cheerful, albeit probably adequate for the job, but £300 supplies state-of-the-art "roundy" things. All in all, the car is what I expected & was willing to pay for.

Can't fault this car. I use it mainly on motorways where it is quiet and refined at all speeds. It has been reliable so far after 22k miles with no problems. Long hills require change downs and revs or a fast run up but that adds to the appeal of its characterful engine. I was dubious, coming from a Golf but the main dealer let me take the demo onto the M6 to show how good it was. I was sold!

Had my Citigo sport for 14 months and I say I love it. With it's lower and stiffer suspension it is a hoot to drive on country roads. It could do with a few more horses under the bonnet to go with the name. No problems yet but it has been back to the dealership to get the plastic radio clip replaced. Overall I love the car.

Had the car for a month and already finding faults. The automatic gears stay in second going up hills - I have tried everything I can think of to get it into a higher gear. Has anyone else had the same problem? Went on a four-hundred-mile trip, was a lovely drive but for the gears.

Bought the car with approx 30,000 miles on the clock from a main dealer. Now done approx 40,000 after a couple of years or so. Mainly used for local drives but also for occasional long runs including continental trips. OK, it's not very fast but it is comfortable enough for two and motorway competent, although you do have to change down for hills but it's willing and has a nice growl noise when revved. So all in all a good little car, although discs and pads needed changing at approx 35,000 miles and a catalyst failure at approx 38,000 miles. Skoda to pay 40 percent of cost but even so, a costly visit to the dealer!

My up! has just completed a 1,300 mile round trip to Germany with no problem, and achieved 62mpg. Shame it takes an age to brim the small tank. The skoda info system that links to my phone is poor, I downloaded the VW up! app, it's far better. I would like heated steering wheel from the options list and the 90bhp engine, otherwise the car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it

This is the 2nd one of these little cars I have owned. Bought from new. 75 greentech Did 30000 in my first one in less than 2 yr mainly long distance motorway driving, driving over 400 miles on a tank of fuel. This is a little car that you can just jump in and 'go'. It corners excellent drives excellent and is really happy on any journey , about town ( it fits into the smallest space)! AND being only 5'3" it fits me well. Between remote locking, heated seats, sat nav, hands free, dab radio and all the other little 'bits' I feel utterly spoiled.

Had my new Citigo for a couple of months now and I have to say how impressed I am. Most of my driving is commuter - this car was built for the urban jungle with good mpg. A solid build very comfortable with good space inside from such a small car. I would recommend the five door to anyone with kids. This is my second Skoda and can't see that changing in the near future so if you're in the market for a city car take another look at the Citigo - you won't regret it

The car has had no teething issues since I took delivery. I was expecting something to be wrong but nothing has happened yet.
