Skoda Roomster
The Roomster is Skoda's strangest design to date. It fuses the front end of the Fabia supermini with the rear of a mini people carrier to create a practical family car. There's plenty of space for passengers, plus a large boot for luggage. This can be expanded by sliding the rear seats forward, or removing them altogether, giving a huge load space. The Roomster may not be the best to drive, but it's cheap to buy and run, and you can’t argue with the solid build quality inside and out.
- pros:
- Quirky and individual
- Inexpensive to buy and run
- Spacious and flexible interior
- cons:
- Uninspiring interior design
- Entry-level model is short on kit
- Diesel engines can be noisy
Low prices and running costs make the Skoda Roomster one of the most practical small people carriers on the market. It's good to drive, but is also very functional, which is reflected in the well built, but simply styled interior. Luggage space with all the seats in position is impressive, but fold or remove the back seats, and the Roomster really lives up to its name.
