Toyota Land Cruiser
The Toyota Land Cruiser is a common sight on the world's toughest roads for a reason – it's incredibly reliable and boasts seriously impressive ability off-road. The Land Cruiser features a number of sophisticated gadgets to keep you moving when the going gets tough, plus there's plenty of tech to keep you comfortable too. Most models feature seven-seats for ultimate practicality, like its rival the Land Rover Discovery. However, the Land Cruiser struggles on the road, while a sluggish four-cylinder diesel or thirsty petrol V8 are the only engine options.
- pros:
- Impressive build quality and reliability
- Incredible off-road performance
- Efficient diesel engine
- cons:
- Lacks comfort and luxury
- Seven seat cabin feels cramped and dated
- Can't match comfort or versatility of Land Rover Discovery 4
Described by Toyota as an all-new model, this 2011 edition of the ultra-tough Land Cruiser is actually only subtlely different to the Land Cruiser Colorado, that debuted back in 2009. As a result, it lacks the cutting edge design and luxury of its arch rival, the Landrover Discovery 4. The car offers a single engine choice - a 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel. Five and seven-seat versions are available. Off road ability, build quality and reliability are peerless, however comfort is less impressive. Though this car is fitted with a seven-seat interior, the rear chairs are very small - and hard to access.
