Bought this car with 17,000 miles on the clock, it now has 50,000. I've experienced three major faults – the clutch master and slave cylinder needed replacing at 30,000 miles and the slip ring at 45,000 miles. The water pump now needs replacing at 50,000 miles and the car is out of warranty. There's no help from VW either. £380for slip ring and now £400 for water pump and timing belt. I'm not happy.

Quite simply the worst car I have ever owned. Constant problems with the engine management system and a total lack of interest from VW who unbelievably advise they are not aware of any problems with their vehicles.

Recent purchase of this (1) pre-owned car after three successive BMW 5 series - last of which had a host of problems that cost a fortune to put right and caused me to lose faith in the BMW brand. Although too early to judge reliability (fingers crossed) so far I'm delighted with the VW. It's good looking and, thanks to the judgment of the first owner, it's very well specified (lots of bells and whistles) and low mileage; it's comfortable to drive and the best (DSG) autobox I've ever experienced - with silky smooth changes both up and down. The engine is very responsive and sound insulation makes for a very quiet cabin. The coupe styling means some impaired visibility, particularly rear view, and the factory fitted rear camera and audio/optical parking sensors are really useful options. As other reviewers have indicated, it's best described as a four and a half seater, with the rear middle seat best suited for a child. After a succession of diesels, I'm coming to terms with the lower mpg of petrol, somewhat offset by the cheaper fuel cost. Very happy too with the service received from local main dealer.

Mine is a company car which we lease. I live in Liverpool so do a lot of city driving but the car typically returns 40 mpg if I use the stop-start, and 45-50 mpg on motorway runs. Apart from the analogue clock not working 1 week after delivery the car has been ultra reliable and gives you the confidence that you're going to arrive safely at your destination with no drama. I regularly do early hours / late night airport trips to and from airports plus also trips down to Suffolk to visit my parents and this is the car that I have more trust in than any other after 30 years of driving. It's a fantastic motorway cruiser - quiet, relaxing, safe, with acceleration on tap if you need it. I like the fact that the car has many characters and you can drive it in many ways. In Liverpool I tend to select 'comfort' mode for the suspension due to the state of the roads and drive in 'Eco-mode' using the stop-start. Motorway driving I use 'normal' as 'sport' is just too harsh a ride for UK motorways, and swap between Drive and Sport mode for the DSG (Sport is great for sliproads and roundabouts and gives you a bit more control in terms of acceleration). However, stick it in 'Sport' suspension and 'Sport' DSG on country roads and the car is a different animal, changing from a relaxed cruiser to something a lot sportier. In either mode, the DSG box is ultra smooth and also predictable in the way it changes up and down through the gears, and up there with the auto boxes I've driven in various BMWs and Mercedes I've driven recently. I've done a lot of long journeys in it and the car is one of the most comfortable I've driven, and one of the few I've had over the years that I never get tired of driving. Sound system is good too, I've got a 128Gb USB stick hooked up in the glovebox plus my iPhone connected via Bluetooth for playing podcasts. The DAB radio is also high quality too. Only drawback of the car is its lack of practicality as a family car - we've got two children aged 12 and 7 plus two dogs so being a saloon it's not the ideal type of car, but I knew that before I ordered it and have resigned myself to having to change to an estate or SUV next time round. However despite the small boot opening you really can cram a lot in there (two decent size cases plus hand luggage) and I've even managed to get largish flat pack furniture back from the shops or things like ladders in there with the rear seats folded down. I'll really miss my CC when the lease expires in a few months time and would have no hesitation recommending one. I'm considering getting a Passat diesel estate with the DSG box next time so I can have all the qualities mentioned above with added practicality

ABOUT THE CAR: 140bhp Diesel, Manual GT in Black metallic. 2011 Plate with Black nappa leather, electric heated seats, premium sound system with Sat Nav/Bluetooth, privacy glass in the rear, hill assist handbrake, adaptive suspension, adaptive headlights. Purchased the vehicle with 35,000 miles at 2.5 years of age at the time and I’ve owned the car for 6 months. WHY DID I BUY THE CAR? I’m 35 years of age, needed a large vehicle as I’m newly married, have a family coming along very soon, we both have very good jobs but we have a VERY large mortgage so needed a lovely vehicle to ferry a family up and down the motorway but also as a 50mile a day commuter vehicle that wasn’t too expensive to buy or run/maintain. We didn’t want a “people mover” or an SUV so saloon was the choice. This model was chosen after test driving a number of 3-year old premium large saloons such as an Audi A6 S-Line 170bhp, BMW 520d SE, Ford Mondeo (OK it’s not premium) and a Mercedes E-Class. After much deliberation, the Passat CC won due to the incredible value for money with options, space, performance, comfort and quality finish. The finish is definitely up there against the Audi A6. IMAGE? I’m a car buff and try to be an objective car buff (I.e. Trying not to fall for brand image or sticking to a badge due to loyalty) and I feel objectively there really aren’t too many prettier saloons out there particularly in this class and price range. Pretty much all of our family and friends are surprised by the space, comfort and quality finish both inside and out when they see it. And whilst at first they often think “Hmm a Passat??” but then after double taking they actually nod with approval. Good, heavy solid door thunk, soft closing glovebox mechanism, alloy tipped buttons and switchgear, no squeaks/rattles it really does impress. FUEL CONSUMPTION: Important topic in a car like this with Bluemotion technology economical engine version. I get 42mpg in heavy London rush hour, 50mpg in mixed driving and 56-60mpg on the motorway (Drive above 75mph and it just won’t go above 55mpg). I think that’s pretty damn good going driving a car that has a fully loaded 500-litre boot, heated seats, climate control, with the stereo blasting often with 3-4 adults! PERFORMANCE: I’ve owned a couple of performance modified Toyota’s back in the 2000s, a Mini Cooper S and a Mazda 3 MPS. I have to say I was so disappointed about getting a 140bhp diesel big saloon. BUT – the moment I test drove the car my disappointment was over. I’m amazed how much torque the engine has and not sure if they gear things differently with various VW models but it’s performs really well pulling away at lights, the push you get from 40mph-70mph is just as good as my previous cars. OK – there are spots in the range where it struggles to pull as well as performance cars I’ve owned but I rarely put my foot down and think GOD this is slow. So VW have done well to get the bhp and torque combination to a point where performance is decent. BEST THINGS Winter days with heated seats – I will never go back now I’ve had this. The sound system is incredible – we have a Bose sound system in our other car and it eats that for breakfast. Sat Nav and Bluetooth system is excellent and easy to use, integrated with my iPhone Spotify account very well. Boot is enormous - Got 5 giant bags of bark from B&Q and a commercial carpet cleaner from Tesco last week and there was still space in the boot! The ride is supremely quiet and smooth. Little bit of tyre drone on rough surfaces but I’m told from the VW service the tracking is a little out due to jumping up a gutter to let an ambulance get through a tight road (my fault), so I’ll get that sorted at next tyre change. THINGS I’D CHANGE OR NOT HAPPY ABOUT Rear visibility isn’t great due to the swooping roof line (front isn’t amazing either) but its stylish so that’s the trade-off – but parking sensors and mirrors I’ve learned to deal with it pretty well. Car is quite long (it’s not far away from a big SUV like a Range Rover in length), so getting around small multi-storey carparks is tight. Sat Nav (like many EU built cars) only has 5-digit postcode search, newer models I think VW fixed this but having played around with a ’14 plate VW sat nav system and it’s not as easy to use so I prefer the one I have. On dark rainy days through winter, spring and autumn the black leather interior is a bit dark in the cabin (privacy glass is a reason too), so would have preferred the beige/black interior but that’s a personal preference. I really struggled to come up with anything else and as you can see – I didn’t really come up with any major problems with the car even after trying! It’s an amazing car and I’m tempted to buy another one in future years (which I’ve never thought of buying the same car twice previously) it really is that good and I’m not easy to please with cars. Five big fat gold stars from me!

After three happy years with a 2010 Ford Mondeo automatic, I considered many different new cars in 2013. I decided on the Volkswagen CC GT after a test drive through my local VW dealer. I've now owned and run this car for nearly 8 months. It is an absolute delight. It is supremely comfortable, instantly powerful, always quiet and composed. I chose the full nappa leather trim in desert beige/black, which provides a cream coloured dashboard, steering wheel, centre console and seat facings, with black leather to the seat sides and seatbacks. I also chose the genuine walnut wood decorative inserts on the dash and doors. I think the CC is one of the most elegant and beautifully-designed cars on the road today. It gets frequent admiring glances from other motorists. I chose the new 177BHP 2.0 turbo diesel engine, the most powerful diesel available and I think this was the right choice. The power is instant and always available, with no obvious turbo lag. Although it can engender slight rear wheel spin if you hit the pedal a bit heavier from a standstill, particularly on a damp road surface. The fuel economy has averaged over 51mpg since it was delivered. I've no doubt the "start/stop" system contributes to this amazing figure. It is all the remarkable, when considering I run the air conditioning all the time. The electrically adjustable driver's seat is easy to get the perfect position. The ribbed leather is exceptionally comfortable, and the heated seats are a boon on freezing mornings. The built-in touchscreen satnav is also a delight. It always takes me door to door, has not yet made any mistakes, and is clear and easy to use, with amazing graphics. Likewise the CD player and DAB radio, with 10 speakers, is of excellent sound quality and the radio reception has been perfect. I just adore the myriad of built-in gadgets in the CC GT, the most incredible of which, is the ability to switch the headlamps from left to right-hand drive with the press of a button in the dash computer, when we go to France and Belgium every few months. The boot is cavernous, the large glove box is air conditioned, and the rear leg room is very spacious. The rear fold-down arm rest is substantial and contains an internal storage box and two pop-out cup holders. The cup holders in the front console, also operate with a push-button system. I also picket three options with his car, which were: 1) electrically folding door mirrors, including automatic puddle lights, 2) mood lighting, with light bars in the doors, red door safety lights and lights in the foot wells, all fully adjustable, and 3) Park Assist - a delight! This automatically parks the car in a parallel space on the street or in a space in a car park - it is a breeze to use and wroth every penny of the £175 option cost. I also love the automatic electronic parking brake; every time I stop it automatically turns on the parking brake and releases it when I depress the accelerator. A dream gadget! In short, I've thoroughly enjoyed every moment I'm in the CC; it is gorgeous to look at, as comfy as my favourite armchair, quietly powerful and always economical. I just hope that in 2 years time, when I have to order my next new car, that the VW CC GT I still available for sale!

This is now my second CC, and rate the car very highly. The ride, feel, presence and drive is exceptional, with the DSG gearbox the drive is effortless, with cruising speeds way in excess of national limits, this car is a dream. Every time I return to this car in a car park i all ways think wow, what a good looking car, and it's mine.

The electronic handbrake has an intermittent fault which the dealer cannot fix and has now said they think it is user error. Not sure how that can be when the car applies the brake mid journey at a junction and then refuses to release unless you remove the ignition key and restart. Google Passat handbrake issues and many other drivers have had similar experiences. The dealership refuses to have the car in for more exploration of the fault and VW customer care don't care. My words find it hard to explain how poorly I have been treated as a consumer. As a business owner I would not be able to sleep at night if we had treated one of our customers in the same manor.

Leased this car 3 Months ago, covered nearly 3,000 miles. I read every review I could find before I chose this vehicle. Some of them were negative and a few were very positive. I was loaned one for a few hours to try out, and was so impressed, I went ahead with the lease. 12 weeks later I am still impressed with the vehicle. I previous leased a MB CLS that had every conceivable extra and the only thing I truly miss is voice control. But hey, I was looking for a luxury motor that was cheaper to lease, was easy on the gas but had a kick under the bonnet when I needed it. I find the CC quiet, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Some critics are not happy with the light steering, me, I love it, I feel far fresher when I do the occasional long trip than I have with any other motor I've owned including the CLS. Fair enough this could be my size and shape, 6' 14.5 stone. When I'm sat behind the wheel it feels like it was made for me. It's a motorway car more than anything else, but I use it in town a lot with no problems. If I have one gripe, it's my own fault for not having a rearview camera installed, because reversing is not as clean cut as I would like it, rearview vision is quite restricted, got to be very careful there are no children about! The satnav is great, very clear and precise with early traffic warnings. Some reviewers mentioned height restriction for rear passengers, I regularly carry my sons - 6' and 6'1 - and they have no problem at all with height or leg room. Again, I read some reviews highlighting rattles in the cabin, none at all for me, it's very quiet. All things considered I would lease this car again tomorrow, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone, it's a lovely motor.
