Volkswagen Eos owner reviews

"The VW Eos remains an engaging drive and has the style buyers want from a coupe-cabriolet. However, while its metal folding roof is clever, it’s complicated too, increasing an already high purchase price."

Too early to say - some trivial niggles (ashtray lid broke, boot-lid/tailgate-stop broken suggests possible doubts about build quality.

LOVE my hot black Eos. It handles beautifully & being diesel is amazingly powerful & economical! Plenty of boot space. No problems with the roof or leakages & the car is 2 years old. I unfortunately collided with a kangaroo & it left very little damage! Only 2 gripes. The headlights suck! Very poor visibility & the rear passenger space is virtually non existent. Lucky I bought it for me :)

Far too many quality issues: - Water trapping in the door well, spilling out onto your shoes when the door was opened - Numerous roof issues; rattling when driving (near to driver’s head, also at rear), consistently failing to open correctly, loudly squeaking sunroof when cold - Boot lock cover coming loose (getting mangled after becoming trapped in the lock). - “Key not found” issues. The vehicle intermittently does not recognise the key and will not start. - Clutch squeal after 15K miles. - Vehicle unexpectedly stopping whilst driving and refusing to start for over 10 minutes - Roof fails to open correctly - Revolving noise evident from rear of vehicle when driving - Lights intermittently not working In summary, there are numerous problems with the vehicle. Less than a quarter of the issues have been resolved by the dealer and the vehicle has spent almost 6 weeks in their possession (Johnson’s VW Birmingham – avoid this dealer at all costs). Their policy is for customers to put the courtesy car on their own personal insurance! Nice to know that you have to pay for their poor quality! I am so dissatisfied with this vehicle that I have chosen to return it a year early and terminate my contract with VW. Avoid this vehicle and dealer at all costs.

2 weeks after my extended warranty ran out, it appears that the clutch and fly wheel of gear box are broken - and the seal between gear box and engine leaking. VW Couldsdon say it will cost £688 to strip down to find out exact problems, and then I will have to pay thousands for parts. I do not think such a new car should break this badly this soon. I am hoping that VW will contribute something to the repairs.
