Volkswagen Eos
The VW Eos is a stylish four-seat convertible, distinguished by its clever folding metal and glass roof. At the touch of a button, the roof splits into five pieces and folds neatly into the boot. Unlike most folding hardtops, the Eos roof features glass sections, so the luxurious cabin remains bright even when the top is up. The Eos also features a great engine range, which offers power or BlueMotion economy, depending on your priorities.
- pros:
- Efficient engine range
- Surprisingly practical cabin
- Innovative roof design
- cons:
- Relatively expensive
- Small boot compared to rivals
- Overall weight blunts performance
Sporting the latest VW family face the revised Eos convertible is now easily recognisable as a close relation to the current Golf, Polo and Touran. The new grille, daytime running LED headlights, and Passat-inspired nose and rear bumper lend the facelifted Eos a more mainstream look over its predecessor. A range of new powerful and efficient engines complete the makeover, including the option to include the full suite of BlueMotion modifications, including automatic stop/start and battery regeneration systems. However, that roof mechanism is complex and adds weight, and there are more economical convertibles on the market.
