Volvo XC70
The XC70 is based on Volvo's proven V70, which means it doesn’t feature the biggest boot, but it's still enormous and capable of swallowing virtually anything you throw at it. What's more, the XC70 is superbly comfortable to drive, particularly on the motorway. The XC70 features jacked-up suspension, four-wheel drive and a rugged bodykit, and is a match for the Audi A6 Allroad when taken off the beaten track.
- pros:
- Practical, spacious and well made cabin
- Impressive off road performer, capable tow car
- Comfortable and luxurious
- cons:
- Expensive to buy, low resale values
- Driving experience no match for rivals
- Petrol engines are very expensive to run
With its supremely comfortable ride and beefed up bodywork, the Practical XC70 is a capable alternative to a full sized 4x4. Tall suspension means the car handles rough roads very well, and although the car is not as good to drive as rivals like the Audi A6 allroad quattro, it is relatively stylish and feels well made.
