One of the most comfortable and refined drives I have ever experienced in almost 30 years of driving. Having previously owned a number of Audi A4 and Mercedes E Class, I have to admit that the Mondeo in terms of refinement and comfort is certainly up there with the best of those vehicles, if not better. With the car's dashing good looks, a simple yet intuitive infotainment system and a huge practical boot it wasn't a difficult to decision for me to purchase this vehicle as it suited all my needs and requirements. The fact that the car also drives extremely well was an added bonus. Visibility and storage is excellent, back seats off more than enough room for rear seat passengers and the seats themselves are so comfortable which makes it an absolute pleasure driving the car particularly over long distances.
For me, there are no negatives just positives, not to mention a whopping saving over so called premium badged classes of the same genre. Fuel economy is good too. I average around 42-45mpg with a 2.0 180bhp diesel engine.

I use this car driving all over Scotland on company business with a boot load of equipment. This car gets a hammering and takes it all in its stride. Great looking car, very comfortable and well equipped. I've test driven many other cars but nothing can come close for the money. Well done Ford, I'm looking forward to my 2018 Mondeo.

Some so called 'professional reviewers' don't surprise me when I read their reviews, they are mostly Ford bashing. I had driven the previous model 2 Lit TDCI remapped to 170PS and loved every minute of driving it for the company and holidays. I had £25k to spend on a car and looked at BMW's, Passat's, Mazda 6, Skoda's et al, I decided to go left field and buy a new Mondeo.
Having secured a great cash deal through Happynewcar.com, I added the Titanium X pack (leather, LED headlights, electric front seats), self parking, pedestrian avoidance, high power TDCI, auto box with twin clutch, upgraded stereo etc.
What a tremendous car this is! I also have a BMW 330i Convertible, and to be honest I enjoy driving both cars equally. The Ford is remarkably fast and with 450 Nm of torque the acceleration is eye opening. It is easily the quietest, most comfortable car I have ever driven. The sports seats are superb. Some pro reviews knock the steering and handling, saying it has lost some of its sparkle etc. Don't believe a word of it. What they mean, I think, is the car is so refined you are not quite so in touch with the road. If this was a BMW, it would be praised for the smooth, quiet and quick drive. Ford can't win! Yes it is big, but it is nimble.
The steering is not quite as precise as that on my girlfriend's 2015MX5, but I wouldn't expect it to be. On A and B roads, its cornering abilities belie its size. It is too easy to spin up the front wheels from a standing start if you have a heavy right foot. Motorway driving is effortless, I have never driven a Rolls but it can't be much better than this. The gear changes are barely noticeable and switching to sports mode turns the car into a different animal.
The interior is classy and the materials are excellent and more that adequate. OK the touch screen does get covered in fingerprints but then again, so does the screen on my smart phone. Ford should fit the rotary controller as fitted in the Mazda range, but the voice control works very well, if you can remember the correct commands! The number and layout of buttons on the steering wheel is confusing. It was confusing on the previous model and I assumed the Ford would improve it on this model, but they have made it worst. I would be pleased to assist Fords designers design the next generation!!
The Sony hi-fi is excellent but could be a little better. I notice that future Fords will have B&O equipment. The sub in the boot is a little woolly and would cost around £800 to replace and upgrade. DAB is brilliant and iPod connectivity is excellent, but the Sync2 user interface could be and should be better. Ford should upgrade it to the Sync3 software as a FOC upgrade.
So, to sum up, I am pleased that I didn't listen to the doomsayers and bought what is an up market, sporty limo that can carry five people and all their luggage in comfort that only cost £25,000.
I would recommend this car without hesitation especially with this engine. Just ignore the snooty badge buyers!!

I purchased a 2015 65 plate Ford Mondeo when it was seven months old. By the time it was 18 months old it only had 12k miles on the clock but needed new drive shafts and in addition the alloys were showing signs of deterioration and the rear brakes were pitted and scored to a level you would expect to see on a vehicle with 40k+ miles. The car was once again in the garage for a further set of new drive shafts when it reached 25k miles plus it displayed signs of gearbox damage. A new drivers airbag was fitted at 26k miles by which time the alloys had deteriorated further.
The service I received from the dealership was very disappointing but nothing compared to the appalling attitude displayed by Ford customer services. Ford refuse to guarantee the newly fitted parts against defect even for a 12 month period. I feel that the build quality of this car and its component parts are substandard. I feel that Ford must have no faith in their manufactured parts or they would have no issue providing an extended guarantee/warranty.

PRO
The interior feels refined and upmarket, even though the model I have is fairly basic. The car is very large and there is plenty of leg room. Compared to the 1.6 Skoda Superb I had the engine is much more responsive.
Its eco credentials are POOR. My Skoda gave at least 60 mpg on the mway, getting over 70mpg if driving at 60mph. The Mondeo gives around 50mpg and at best I've only managed 60mpg when driving slowly at 60pmh.
The infotainment system is very good, BUT NOT EASY TO USE. The Skoda was much more intuitive.
My front bumper sensors are a little tempremental, but that may be just a fault with mine.

This is one of the best cars I have driven and have just returned from France having
towed a 1300 kilo caravan for 1500 miles with no problems and achieved 30mpg.
Just one problem the Michelin tyres supplied from new only lasted 15000 miles.

Having moved on from a corporate job with a company car (a Mercedes C300h AMG estate with Premier Plus pack) we needed to look for something a little more "economical" price-wise. Tried the (new model) Audi A4, the Hyundai Ioniq and the Skoda Superb but ended up settling on an ex-demo Mondeo with around £5k of options for about 40% off list price (just under a year old with 14k miles, from a Ford main dealer).
We've only had it a week but I am REALLY impressed. It is easily as quick as the Merc in the real world but way more comfortable and with a lot of more space inside the cabin and in the boot. It is also a lot more refined, especially on the motorway where the lane assist, adaptive cruise, blind spot monitor and super comfy seats just make it easy.
My car has the body kit, 19" wheels and metallic black paint and it looks awesome (when clean for 5 minutes that is). The LED adaptive headlights work really well (though they're not as clever as the Audi matrix lights) and although the Sony 12-speaker stereo is pretty good it's not as good as the Burmeister in the Merc, the bass is a little woolly and the treble gets a bit harsh as you crank up the volume. I'm sure most people would be happy with it.
I really like the Apple CarPlay but with Ford's Sync 3 you basically end up with two different audio/mapping/telephone systems if enabled. For nav you either have the standard Ford one (which is pretty good) or have to use Apple Maps (which isn't so good, mainly around inability to find places. It also doesn't put up mapping directions on the TFT instrument panel, unlike the Ford one). I'm sure Ford could have/can do better here. The Hyundai Ioniq allowed you to use either Apple Maps or the inbuilt sat nav.
In general there are a few too many taps to do things like change to the DAB radio if you're in CarPlay, or update the climate control (other than up/down on the temperature, for which there are dedicated buttons). Other than one "lock up" I've found the system very responsive to all inputs. There are two USB ports so you can still attached an iPod or USB stick for additional audio. DAB reception seems great.
What else? The ride comfort is excellent, especially considering my 19" alloys, the whole car basically just floats along, almost like an S-class Merc. Handling is good for such a big car, there is quite a strong "self centre" action on the steering but I've got used to it and the car is precise and easy to place. Given the power you have to be careful if accelerating hard as it is easy to spin the front wheels in 1st or even 2nd if its damp. But it does go, this car, I wouldn't worry about the 0-60 times (which seemed a little low to me, for something with 210BHP), they don't represent how fast it is in the real world. Basically it is quick and very refined with it, almost to the point like it feels like a V6. The whole car is very refined with little noise reaching the cabin.
A few dislikes? At the moment I get a slight "vibration" when coming to a standstill and the car working out whether to switch the engine off, not sure if this is normal but will be asking someone to investigate. The TFT dash is a little cluttered with a lot of information to take in at a glance. I don't find the speedo that easy to read as it doesn't have 50 or 70mph markings. You can configure the centre screen to show speed, which helps. A heads up display would help here but there is no option.
Build quality is good, not Audi good but it isn't exactly low rent, the leather seats are good quality.
All in all I think Ford have done VERY well with this car. If you're after a big, quiet, comfortable, quick and safe car, that is still a little fun to drive and has some cool tech that works well then I'd check out this model. It might save you a few ££ buying a German equivalent.

Too much software?
I had to take the car to the garage because the engine management light came on. The garage changed the EGR valve and when they came to clear the fault codes, the Ford diagnostic equipment prompted them to upgrade the car's main control unit (PCM). This failed due to a software fault and the garage was then unable to reprogramme the PCM. They contacted Ford, and nineteen days later technicians from Ford came out to fix it!
