Honda CR-V SUV review (2018-2023): owner reviews

“The latest Honda CR-V shuns diesel and petrol in favour of a hybrid powertrain. This makes it smooth and efficient, but its passenger and towing capacity takes a dive”

Very happy with the CRV so far, and as this is my third overall, I think I'm well placed to say the 2020 model is definitely the best. One exemption however is that the voice of the in-built sat nav is very low and hard to hear. Especially apparent on motorways where you can hear virtually nothing of what is said. I contacted Honda UK customer services who were very unhelpful. The stated they were aware of the problem and other customers had complained but Honda tests showed the sound to be within an acceptable range. They stated it was not a fault as I suggested but within it’s design. Very surly call handler, not what I expected from Honda.

Purchased the car before Christmas 2022 after trading in 2019 Civic 1.0-litre due to ill health. Civic was too low and access was an issue! This is the third CRV that I have owned, with the other two being 2.2-litre diesels. The new car is the correct height for entering & exiting the car. The car seems very happy negotiating urban routes and is so quiet that you would not audibly note where the power is coming from. Obviously, this is still early days with this car but I have owned six Honda cars in recent years and I am very comfortable with the marque in terms of reliability, sales & aftermarket relationship. Having a good dealership at hand is paramount!
What's the one thing you like most about your car?
Nice quiet comfortable ride with easy access for disabled driver like myself!
If you could improve one thing, what would it be?
Too early to form an opinion.

Somewhat disappointed with this CRV. The fuel economy is no better than my last, 2-litre CRV. The service interval sensor means it needs a visit to the dealer every 6,000 miles or so. I presume this is a reaction to the North American petrol/oil contamination issues of earlier cars, but 6 month servicing is ridiculous in this day and age. The cruise, radar system is OK at best, downright dangerous at worst and cannot be cancelled. How I haven't had someone hit me up the rear when the car decides to suddenly brake from 48 to 32mph because a car has turned off the A3 onto a slip road is a miracle! On the plus side, build quality and looks are good.
