Mitsubishi ASX SUV - MPG, running costs & CO2 (2010-2021)
The Mitsubishi ASX is unlikely to be as efficient as most rivals
The Mitsubishi ASX has a generous warranty, but its rivals are likely to prove considerably less expensive to run – especially if you're a company car user.
Mitsubishi ASX MPG & CO2
Only one engine is offered for the ASX, a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol that develops 148bhp. The manual models return 37.7mpg - a figure that's unlikely to impress customers switching from a hatchback or looking at more economical rivals because newer turbocharged petrol engines return almost 50mpg in some small SUVs. Opting for the automatic model doesn’t help things either, as a CVT gearbox and four-wheel drive increases fuel consumption to 34.4mpg.
After the first year's CO2-based road tax (generally included in the on-the-road price), all Mitsubishi ASXs cost £150 a year to tax.
Insurance
The ASX’s new trim levels sit in groups 23-25, which seems a little higher than rivals, and you might be subject to higher insurance premiums as a result.
Warranty
At the beginning of 2015, as with all other Mitsubishi models, the ASX's warranty was increased from three to five years – although the 62,500-mile limit remains. This puts it on terms with some of the best in the business: the Kia Sportage, for example, has a 100,000-mile/seven-year warranty and the Toyota RAV4 has a five-year warranty.
Servicing
The Mitsubishi ASX requires servicing every 12,500 miles or 12 months, whichever comes sooner. If you'd like to beat any potential price rises, the Mitsubishi Service Plan allows you to pre-pay for three services at a time.
