New Suzuki Swift 2013 range updated

Suzuki Swift Sport five-door and new Suzuki Swift 4x4 have been added to the range

The Suzuki Swift range has been updated for 2013, with revisions to the car’s specifications and the addition of two new models to the range – the Suzuki Swift 4x4 and the Suzuki Swift Sport five-door.

The 1.3-litre DDiS model is now available in the higher SZ4 spec, and offers emissions of 101g/km (previously 109g/km) and fuel economy of 72.4mpg. All models in the range get a lower front bumper with a new design, a new grille and an LED brake light at the back.

The new 2013 Suzuki Swift is available in three specs, SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4, with seven airbags, electric front windows, heated door mirrors, an MP3 stereo, USB connectivity, steering wheel-mounted controls and new 15-inch wheel covers as standard.

The SZ3 model also gets air-conditioning, Bluetooth, music streaming and 16-inch alloy wheels, while the top SZ4 model includes LED headlights, powered folding mirrors, automatic headlights and cruise control. The new 2013 Suzuki Swift range also gets a new metallic paint option, Boost Blue metallic.

Suzuki Swift 4x4

The more rugged Suzuki Swift 4x4 model goes on sale in July, priced at £11,516. It will be available in two five-door specifications, SZ3 or SZ4, and both models will come with a manual gearbox and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The SZ3 isn’t too different from its non-4x4 counterpart, with just a new badge and a higher ride height. The SZ4, however, adds a tougher look with plastic protection from scrapes on the bumpers, bigger wheel arches and black trim under the doors.

The 4x4 is 65kg heavier than the standard front-wheel drive Suzuki Swift, which means emissions are higher at 126g/km of CO2 – meaning yearly tax now costs £105 a year, up from £30. However until 30 September there is no VAT on new purchases of the Suzuki Swift 4x4, so there's a 20% saving on the list price of the 4x4. Plus, there’s also get Suzuki's three-year or 60,000-mile warranty and one year of free breakdown cover included in all Suzuki Swift purchases.

Suzuki Swift Sport

There’s another new model in the range too, as the Suzuki Swift Sport hot hatchback is now available with five doors. Costing from £14,249, it’s £500 more than the equivalent three-door Suzuki Swift Sport, which costs from £13,749. Both use Suzuki’s 134bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine and go from 0-62mph in 8.7 seconds, but can still return 44.1mpg and emit 147g/km CO2.

Standard equipment on the Suzuki Swift Sport includes 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic air-con, fog lamps, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, tinted windows and a six-speed manual gearbox.
