Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport revealed
New top-of-the-range Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport goes on sale
A new top-of-the-range Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport specification has been revealed – designed to sit above the existing Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X models.
The addition of a new premium specification comes as the result of high demand for top-end Ford Kugas. In fact, we're told the current top-of-the-range Ford Kuga Titanium and Titanium X models account for as much as 80 per cent of Kuga sales.
The list of standard equipment in the new Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport is generous, and includes 19-inch alloy wheels, DAB radio, satellite-navigation and a reversing camera. In addition, the new models get tinted rear windows, a body styling kit and silver roof rails. Electrically folding door mirrors, a parallel parking system, heated leather seats and a large panoramic glass roof are also included.
Options available on the Kuga Titanium X Sport include an innovative automatic tailgate, which allows owners to open the boot by simply sliding their foot under the rear bumper. It’s a £350 option and comes in handy when your hands are full of shopping or heavy bags.
Mark Ovenden, MD Ford Britain, said: “Everyone has approached their car with their hands full and wished there was some magical way of opening the boot without having to put the load down first. Our hands-free tailgate is an ingenious solution to make everyday lives easier.”
The Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport will be available with a choice of two 1.6-litre petrol and two 2.0-litre diesel engines as well as the option of two or four-wheel drive. Although figures haven’t been confirmed, we expect mpg and emissions to mirror the current Ford Kuga models, meaning the most efficient diesel engine should return around 53mpg and emit 139g/km of CO2. In contrast, the fastest (and least-economical) petrol model is expected to do 36mpg, with CO2 emissions of 179g/km.
The Ford Kuga spearheads the brand's expanding SUV range, which has recently included the smaller Ford EcoSport SUV – with a larger Ford Edge SUV due in the not-too-distant future.
Prices for the new Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport start at £28,345 for the lower-powered 1.6-litre petrol. Top-spec 2.0-litre diesel models with four-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox cost from £33,495.
