Porsche Boxster and Cayman GTS unveiled
Fastest versions of roadster and coupe set for the UK in May 2014
Porsche has released details of the new range-topping Porsche Boxster GTS and Porsche Cayman GTS models.
The GTS badge stands for Gran Turismo Sport and has been used on some of the most high-performance Porsche cars since the 1960s. No surprise then that the two new cars will be the fastest models in their respective ranges.
For the Boxster GTS, this means power of 325bhp from its 3.4-litre petrol engine, which is 15bhp more than the Boxster S. The Cayman GTS uses the same engine and benefits from an identical increase over the Cayman S, with power up to 335bhp.
The cars get a GTS styling package that includes black finish headlights, darkened front bumper inserts, 20-inch black alloy wheels and gloss black badges. An optional sports setup is available for both cars that lowers the cars for better handling and an even more aggressive look.
The Boxster and Cayman GTS cars get leather sports seats with Alcantara details in keeping with their impressive performance and racey styling.
Customers will have a choice of Porsche’s seven-speed automatic gearbox on both cars – with it fitted, 0-62mph times are cut by three-tenths of a second over the S versions of the cars to 4.7 seconds. Porsche claims both cars will do 34.4mpg with the automatic gearbox or 31.4mpg with the standard six-speed manual.
The GTS models come with a Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Active Suspension Management - two systems that allow drivers to change the suspension and throttle response for even better performance.
The new cars, which join Cayenne and Panamera models in the GTS line-up, will be in Porsche showrooms in May. The Boxster GTS starts at £52,879, while the Cayman GTS is priced at £55,397.
