New 2015 Audi TT Roadster stirs up Paris

The new Audi TT Roadster has been revealed at the Paris Motor Show.

As before, it features a fully automatic folding fabric roof, and is expected to cost around £2,200 more than the TT coupe. That means prices for the entry-level Audi TT Roadster should start from £31,970. That’s a lot less than one of its main rivals, the Porsche Boxster, which costs upwards of £38,000.

As you would expect, there are no styling shocks, with the Roadster mirroring the coupe from the nose to the windscreen. Dropping the roof reveals a sleek profile, while inside the cabin is lifted directly from the coupe.

Standard equipment is generous, with Sport models boasting a futuristic 12.3-inch display in place of the speedometer and rev counter. It allows drivers to instantly switch between sat nav and stereo screens – as well as more conventional dials – at the flick of a switch. The air-con controls are now placed on the vents themselves, for a suitably minimalistic look.

Other kit includes 18-inch alloy wheels and adaptive suspension, which allows owners to choose between comfort and sport settings. Top-spec S line models add bigger wheels, LED headlights and lowered suspension.

Like the specifications, the engine line-up will match that of the Audi TT coupe. That means a super-frugal 2.0-litre TDI diesel, a more powerful 2.0-litre petrol and range-topping 306bhp Audi TTS (the yellow car in our pictures). There will be a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes, as well as quattro four-wheel drive.
