Bold looks for new Renault Captur – on sale now

Upmarket style for new Renault Captur compact SUV; available now from £15,355

Renault has released full details of its updated Captur compact SUV, which is now available to order, with deliveries commencing in July.

The new Captur can be immediately recognised as a smaller brother to the successful Renault Kadjar, having a far stronger visual resemblance to that car than before. The new look has a tough, off-road character, with prominent lower skid plates under muscular bumpers, plus distinctive chrome strips.

Renault’s signature C-shaped LED daytime running lights feature, with the rear lights incorporating the same design. Some models will feature full-LED ‘Pure Vision’ headlamps. Personalisation and customisation are also key appeals of the new Captur, with 36 potential paint combinations available.

A fixed-glass panoramic roof will be available on the Dynamique S Nav model and above, allowing light to flood into an interior that uses higher-quality materials than before. Meanwhile, chrome highlights and redesigned controls make for a more attractive and more user-friendly dashboard. Renault also promises greater comfort in the new Captur, thanks to reshaped seats and new fabric and leather choices, but practicality hasn’t been forgotten – the seat covers can still be unzipped for cleaning.

Renault’s ‘R&GO’ smartphone connection system is standard on all models, and updated R-Link infotainment systems are available, with Android Auto for the first time. Available with TCe 90 and 1.2-litre TCe 120 petrol or 1.5-litre dCi 90 and dCi 110 diesel engines, the new Captur is available now, with prices starting at £15,355.

Renault Captur specification

The latest Renault Captur is available in five trim levels, with names familiar from other Renault models. Entry level is the Expression+, which offers 16-inch alloy wheels, hands-free keycard opening, air-conditioning and DAB radio (incorporated into Renault’s R&GO infotainment system).

Upgrading to Dynamique Nav introduces a Media Nav infotainment system with sat nav. Climate control replaces the air-conditioning and 17-inch alloy wheels are standard. Dynamique Nav also includes ECO2, a system that encourages smoother, more economical driving.

The Dynamique S Nav is more distinctive, with two-tone paint combinations, dark tinted glass and full LED front headlamps. Inside, there are leather finishes to the steering wheel, handbrake and gearlever, while rear parking sensors and front foglamps are fitted outside.

This is also the point in the range at which a full-length fixed-glass sunroof becomes available – but only if you choose two-tone paint and an optional premium pack that includes an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and sporty aluminum pedals.

A new Signature X Nav model takes over from the previous Signature Nav, and includes part-leather upholstery, heated front seats and Renault’s ‘Grip Xtend’ traction-control system, which makes the Captur easier to drive on treacherous surfaces. It also adds a seven-inch R-Link infotainment system with Android Auto compatibility and TomTom navigation. Outside, 17-inch alloy wheels and front parking sensors are both standard.

There’s also a new range-topping Signature S Nav edition, with partial Nappa leather seat upholstery, a special range of colours and a specific metallic grey finish on the front and rear skid plates and exterior trim. Signature S Nav also boasts blind-spot monitoring and hands-free parking, as well as a six-speaker BOSE stereo system.

The Captur retains its two-tone body colour options and expands the scope for personalisation with a range of new paint hues for the body and roof – bringing the total to 36 colour combinations.

Inside, seven different interior personalisation themes are available and five colour schemes can be chosen for the hubcaps and side sill protectors.

Renault Captur pricing & availability

The Captur’s range of TCe 90 and TCe 120 petrol and dCi 90 and dCi 110 diesel engines is unchanged, with dCi 90 managing up to 78.5mpg, with CO2 emissions of just 95g/km. The most powerful TCe 120 petrol model can still reach 50.4mpg.

Prices start at £15,355 for the entry-level Expression+ TCe 90, and rise to £23,145 for the range-topping Signature S Nav dCI 110.

Order books are now open, with customer deliveries commencing in July.
