Exclusive MINI 1499 GT launches with appealing pricing
Limited to 1499 examples, the MINI 1499 GT comes with 102bhp, sporty trappings and an eye-catching £299 payment deal
The MINI 1499 GT is a new special-edition model that offers sporty styling, free insurance and an attractive personal contract hire (PCH) offer. It’s available to order now, but as it’s limited to 1,499 examples, you’ll have to be quick if you want one.
With John Cooper Works (JCW) bumpers and sills, black 17-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, white indicators, a roof spoiler and ‘MINI 1499 GT’ graphics along its sides, the 1499 GT has significant visual appeal. The sporty theme continues inside thanks to part-leather JCW seats and a JCW steering wheel, while cruise control, red stitching, carbon-black and piano-black trim details are also fitted.
MINI is offering the 1499 GT in Pepper White or Midnight Black paint; the black model gets gold side decals, while the white car gets black side graphics.
Those dynamic looks may lead you to expect outrageous power, but the MINI 1499 GT comes with the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as the entry-level MINI; this produces 101bhp and gets the three-door hatch from 0-62mph in 10.1 seconds, although the 1499 GT does feature sports suspension for more involving handling. The 1499 name pays tribute to both the 1499cc engine and the original 1.275-litre Mini 1275 GT of 1969.
So, the 1499 GT is a sharp-looking MINI with a relatively modest power output, and that combination is likely to appeal to young drivers. With that in mind, MINI is offering the 1499 GT on a 48-month personal contract hire agreement, which will cost £299 a month with a £299 deposit. MINI is also throwing in a year’s free insurance, as long as you’ve had your licence for at least three years.
If you’d rather buy the MINI 1499 GT outright, its on-the-road price is £16,990. Order books are open now.
