2020 Renault Koleos SUV prices and specifications revealed
Renault’s flagship SUV gets two new diesel engines, extra tech and styling tweaks
Renault has revealed pricing and specifications for the facelifted Koleos SUV. The new model is available with two new diesel engines and updated technology, and has been given a styling update. The revised Koleos is available to order now with a starting price of £28,195 and deliveries will start in November.
Two new diesel engines replace the old 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre dCi units. The new 1.7-litre Blue dCi 150 engine is available with front-wheel drive only, while the larger 2.0-litre Blue dCi 190 comes with four-wheel drive.
The facelifted Renault Koleos features minor styling changes. At the front, there are now Pure Vision LED headlights that are standard across the range, a tweaked front grille with new chrome detailing and a new bumper design.
The rear end gets a similarly subtle redesign, with a bigger skid plate, additional chrome trim, and a new bumper. The rear lighting has also been upgraded, with new ‘3D effect edge light’ tail lamps and a larger high-level brake light. There are also new two-tone alloy wheel designs and a new ‘Vintage Red’ metallic paint shade.
The facelifted Koleos will be offered in two trim levels called Iconic and GT-Line. The Iconic features 18-inch alloy wheels, a seven-inch screen with sat nav and smartphone connectivity, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, keyless entry, hands-free parking and a reversing camera. The automatic emergency braking system now includes pedestrian detection. Heated and cooled cup holders, along with an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, are also standard.
Inside, Renault has updated the Koleos’ infotainment system to an 8.7-inch touchscreen for the GT-Line, that can now display Apple CarPlay using the full screen. 19-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, electric and heated leather upholstery, also feature as standard on the GT-Line. The interior gets new soft-touch materials and trim finishers, while the rear seats get two-stage reclining functionality for the first time.
The two new engines will improve the Koleos’ performance, economy and emissions. The 2.0-litre unit is paired to Renault’s CVT automatic gearbox, which has four-wheel drive as standard. It produces 150g/km of CO2, which pushes it into the top Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) band. The 1.7-litre diesel engine is front-wheel-drive only, emitting 143g/km to give it a slightly lower BiK rating for company-car drivers.
The two-wheel-drive Koleos in Iconic trim with the 1.7-litre dCi engine starts from £28,195, while the four-wheel drive, 2.0-litre dCi version starts at £31,195. The same engine and drivetrain are available on the top-spec GT Line, with the two-wheel drive starting at £31,195 and the four wheel drive at £33,195. Order books are open now, with first deliveries scheduled for November.
The new Koleos will rival SUVs like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento and Skoda Kodiaq. It’s also based on the Nissan X-Trail but, while some of its rivals offer seven seats, the Koleos remaining a strict five-seater.
