Nissan Note MPV (2012-2017) - Practicality & boot space
The Nissan Note offers more space inside than a conventional hatchback
If you want a car that's cheap to buy and spacious then there's a lot to like about the Nissan Note. At just over four metres in length, it’s never going to be as easy to park as a city car or smaller superminis, but get the Safety Shield system and you’ll benefit from a useful 360-degree camera that can warn you if it detects any moving objects nearby while you’re parking the Note.
Nissan Note interior space & storage
Getting comfortable in the front seats should be easy and there's also plenty of space in the back. The Note is quite tall and this translates into enough headroom for almost anyone. Its back seat that can slide forwards and backwards to free up more leg or luggage room as required, and when it's pushed back as far as it'll go, rear legroom is very impressive. Taller adults might find it a squeeze with the seat pushed forwards, though.
There are plenty of cubbyholes dotted around the cabin as well. The glovebox is pleasingly large, but door storage lets the side down – it's limited to small pockets in the armrests, with no door bins.
Boot space
Luggage space is decent, too: the Nissan Note gets a 381-litre boot, which is over 100 litres bigger than the old model's. This compares to the 440-litre boot available in both the Kia Venga and the Hyundai ix20. In the premium small MPV class, the Mercedes B-Class offers even more space, with a generous 486 litres of luggage capacity.
All models of Note feature a false boot floor that can be raised to sit flush with the boot lip. Fold down the rear seats and the Nissan offers 1,465 litres of carrying capacity. Plus, big items should be relatively easy to load thanks to the Nissan’s large boot opening.
