Renault Twizy hatchback (2012-2021) - Interior & comfort
The Renault Twizy is better than a scooter, but you'll be hoping it doesn’t rain
The Renault Twizy offers a surprising amount of room in the driver's seat, which slides back and forth on rails. The steering wheel has no adjustment, however, so you may have to sacrifice legroom for better control. The rear passenger seat is certainly cramped – but you can see that just by looking at the Twizy.
So you get more comfort and protection from the elements than you would on a traditional scooter, but have to make do with a less-than-perfect seating arrangement. And don't forget that it's noisy inside – the electric motor whines a bit at higher speeds, and there's plenty of wind noise – and the lack of a heater means you'll have to wrap warm in conditions other than blazing sunshine.
Renault Twizy dashboard
There really isn’t much dashboard to speak of. There’s a blue-lit LCD screen behind the steering wheel which clearly displays the car’s speed and the amount of charge in the battery.
To the left, there’s small cluster of buttons, two of which are used to select drive, neutral or reverse. There are no soft-touch plastics as the Twizy’s interior needs to be resistant to water, dirt and dust, meaning there's plenty of hard plastic and the seats are cushioned in wipe-clean vinyl.
Equipment
Don’t expect a Twizy to feature much in the way of equipment. Every Twizy comes with an engine immobiliser, a driver airbag and a heated windscreen. Choose a Dynamique model and you’ll enjoy floor mats front and back, alloy wheels and the choice of two-tone paint finishes.
Options
Many of the options you can choose for your Twizy are a bit out of the ordinary. You can choose windows, an ‘anti-lift’ alarm and even blankets for the driver and passenger. More familiar options include alloy wheels and a Bluetooth kit with a music streaming function (although bear in mind that passers-by will be able to earwig your conversation due to the lack of doors and windows).
You can also choose from a range of vinyl graphics too. Options include purple camouflage, zebra stripes or rose petals. Because a Twizy doesn’t stand out enough already.
