Nissan Juke Tekna
The Nissan Juke SUV was one of the first small crossovers on the market. It has a raised driving position but is car-like to drive. Nissan gave the Juke a facelift in 2014 to keep it looking fresh.
Opting for the Nissan Juke Tekna means you get equipment such as the clever Connect sat-nav system, a reversing camera, automatic wipers, keyless entry, heated front seats, and electric folding door mirrors.
Although the 1.5-litre diesel Nissan Juke is the slowest model in the range, it is also the most economical and makes more sense than the fast 1.6-litre DIG-T petrol. The Juke has bouncy suspension, which is soft, but doesn’t offer a comfortable ride and means the car suffers from lots of body lean in the corners. Just one Juke is offered with four-wheel drive, meaning all other models are best left on road, rather than off it.
Good points
The Nissan Juke has eye-catching looks and there's very little like it on the roads. Its small dimensions make it is easy to drive in town, while the Nissan Juke Tekna also features a reversing camera to help make parking easy. In Tekna form the Juke also gets a sat-nav system that should make finding places a doddle. The Nissan Juke is also quite cheap to buy and offers the practicality of a five-door hatchback body shape, although the boot is very small for an SUV at just 250 litres. Some modern-day city cars can better that figure.
Bad points
The Nissan Juke is quite a compromised car. Its upright driving position gives the driver an excellent view of the road, but comes at the cost of poor aerodynamics that mean the Juke cannot compete with the economy offered by more conventional cars of the same price. The 1.5-litre diesel may be the most economical engine in the range, but it is also quite slow. The car’s handling is also compromised, being neither comfortable nor particularly good at suppressing body lean in the corners. Practicality isn't great either – with the boot measuring just 250 litres.

Our choice
The Nissan Juke isn’t particularly fun to drive, so buyers should opt for the 1.5-litre diesel (rather than the quicker petrol) because it offers decent fuel economy.
