Audi S3 cabriolet to cost £39,000

The new four-seater Audi S3 cabriolet will cost £38,910, Audi has announced. The car is available to order now and the first customer deliveries are due in September

The S3 is the quickest model in the Audi A3 cabriolet range. It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, has four-wheel drive for all-weather grip, and a fabric roof that can fold down in just 18 seconds.

The Audi S3 cabriolet is fitted with the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine as the S3 hatchback, five-door Sportback and four-door saloon. It is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds and has a top speed of 155mph.

Fitted with grippy four-wheel drive as standard, the Audi S3 Cabriolet should be perfect for the UK’s often wet and slippery roads.

Despite the performance on offer, the Audi S3 Cabriolet is capable of returning economy of up to 39.8mpg, while CO2 emissions of 165g/km mean road tax will set you back £175 annually. The S3 is only available with Audi’s six-speed automatic S tronic gearbox, and the car is fitted with bigger, more powerful brakes that can be painted red at extra cost.

The Audi’s fabric roof uses high-tech material to keep the car's weight down, while the roof’s insulating foam layer keeps the interior quiet at speed. The roof can be folded in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 31mph, and the car features an active rollover system, which is designed to protect the occupants in the event of an accident.

The S3 has a number of visual features that distinguish it from cheaper models in the range. It is fitted with a revised front bumper and grille, four exhaust pipes, a new rear bumper and LED rear lights. The car also gets a subtle rear spoiler and 19-inch alloy wheels in a design unique to the Audi S3. The car can be finished in a range of 12 colours, including crystal-effect Panther Black and pearlescent Sepang Blue.

The interior also gets a host of S3-specific additions, including sporty dials, leather seats with S3 logos and a sports steering wheel. Audi’s decision to fit a fabric roof – rather than a space-eating, folding-metal hard top – means that boot space is competitive among its rivals at 285 litres with the roof up, or 245 litres with it down.

Audi's clever Magentic Ride Damping is fitted as standard. The system constantly monitors the road surface and the way the car is driven to optimise the suspension to deliver a more comfortable or more sporty drive.

Just one model is available in the Audi S3 cabriolet range, which is priced at £38,910 on the road.
