Practicality & boot space Rating

There's plenty of space in the front seats of the Macan: leg, head and shoulder room are all sufficient for most. It's also easy to get comfortable thanks to plenty of adjustment in the steering wheel and driver's seat, while the car's above-average height gives you a good view of the road ahead.

Porsche Macan interior space & storage

The Macan is a deceptively spacious car: passenger space inside this five-door SUV is excellent and it also has a fairly big boot. The back seat can accommodate three adults with ease, giving them a decent amount of kneeroom.

Headroom isn't quite as generous as you’ll find in more conventionally styled models and the optional panoramic sunroof reduces it further, so bear this in mind if you frequently carry several adult passengers.

The Macan isn't much bigger than a family hatchback, so those with larger families will need to look at the larger Porsche Cayenne or a less performance-orientated rival such as the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Various cubbyholes are scattered around the interior, including front and rear cup-holders, door bins on all four doors and a central storage area located between the two front seats.

Boot space

The Macan has a 488-litre boot, which is smaller than a Range Rover Evoque's and not as generous as that offered by the Audi Q5 or BMW X3, either. The 40:20:40 split and folding rear seats make it easy to slide in heavy items, and the car has a maximum load capacity of 1,503 litres. The boot also has a wide opening that makes it easy to squeeze in awkward items.

Towing

Every Macan can tow a braked trailer or caravan weighing up to 2,000kg. The more powerful versions are naturally best suited to this type of work. A factory-fitted electric folding towbar costs around £850.
