  • Four option packs: Clever, Plus, Advanced and Maxx
  • Free update for existing Enyaq owners adds faster charging
  • Updated car on sale now from £38,480

As the electric family SUV market continues to expand, the Skoda Enyaq iV range has been updated for 2023. Available to order now from £38,480, the rival to the Volkswagen ID.4 and Nissan Ariya now comes with a revised trim lineup, featuring more standard equipment and faster charging speeds.

This comes as the Enyaq’s second update in a year with 120kW ultra-rapid charging being added in December 2021. However, this update has now been expanded to existing Enyaq owners, allowing them to take their cars to a dealership where faster charging speeds will be enabled for free via an update. The process will take around five hours and will also add further enhancements to the infotainment system via an upgrade to the latest ME3 software. Real-world driving range is also said to be better, thanks to improved battery management.

Those looking to order a brand-new Enyaq iV can now choose from one of four distinct specifications: 60, 80, 80 Sportline and all-wheel-drive 80x Sportline. Entry-level 60 cars come with a 58kWh battery that provides a range of around 250 miles, whereas 80 models boast a 77kWh unit, which can travel up to 338 miles between charges depending on exact specifications and wheel sizes. Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 13-inch touchscreen with built-in sat-nav, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and lane-keep assist.

Instead of an extensive options list, you now get four packs to choose from – Clever, Plus, Advanced and Maxx.

Kicking things off, the Clever package will cost you an extra £2,755 on top of the base price of your chosen Enyaq. It adds heated front seats, a heated two-spoke steering wheel, tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, a wireless charging pad, tinted rear windows, manual sunblinds and extra USB-C ports in the rear.

The Clever bundle also introduces a handful of extra driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and traffic sign recognition.

To all that lot, the £4,830 Plus package adds Matrix LED headlights, full-LED tail lights, a hands-free powered tailgate and an electric driver’s seat with memory function. Also included are traffic jam assist and autonomous evasive steering in the event of an accident.

It's worth noting that all the features listed in the Clever and Plus packages are included as standard on Sportline cars.

Priced at £6,980, the Advanced package builds on Plus specification and is only available in conjunction with the 78kWh battery. Highlights include an illuminated front grille, a head up display, heated rear seats, a heated windscreen and an upgraded Canton sound system.

The range-topping Maxx pack is also only available on Enyaq 80 models and costs an eye-watering £9,375 extra. To all the kit already mentioned, Maxx boasts adaptive suspension dampers, fully-electric front seats with memory function, a massaging driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera system, park assist and rear side airbags.

Featuring on the new paired-down options list is kit such as a panoramic sunroof (£855), plus an energy-efficient heat pump (£1,025).

All 2023 model year Enyaq iVs models also get a three-year subscription to Skoda Remote Services, allowing owners to access features such as the climate control via their smartphone.

What does this mean for car buyers?

The Enyaq iV has been popular with critics and car buyers alike, with Skoda forced to take certain versions of the electric family SUV off sale over the last year just to meet demand during the current global semiconductor shortage. While the new Plus, Advanced and Maxx packs are full of tempting features, we’re scared off by their hefty asking prices. The entry-level Clever package is a much more sensible proposition; it's full of desirable features for family buyers and only incurs a slight premium.
